Bobug Posted October 21, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2008 Does every ship have this? Is it interesting? Every ship I have been on has the tours. It is very interesting...at least one time. You should do it.
brt49 Posted October 21, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2008 How do I find out when it is offered? Is it listed in the Capers?
Bobug Posted October 21, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2008 How do I find out when it is offered? Is it listed in the Capers? Yes....just check them everyday...it should be scheduled at least once. Even though I haven't been on Carnival yet that is the way it has been done on every cruise I have been on. DGP1111 Posted October 21, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2008 Some of the ships have begun removing the galley tour option from the Carnival Capers announcements, and opening it up only for a smaller number of invited passengers.
mamasue Posted October 21, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 21, 2008 I've done several Carnival cruises, and never seen a galley tour advertised.
NaturalLove Posted October 21, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 21, 2008 DH and I did the galley tour on the Legend last month and it was advertised in the Capers. It was very ineresting. It took place in the dining room. A lot of passengers participated. The maitre d talked about how much food it takes to feed people. I mean he had it down to the pounds. He told us how many pounds of chicken, ice-cream, hamburgers, etc. we consumed on our cruise alone. How much wine, beer, liquor, and soda was consumed. How much water we used, how much toilet paper we used, how much shampoo and soap we used. How much food the chefs cook each night. Then he took us through the kitchen and it was so amazing how clean it was considering all the people they had to feed. It was definitely worth going to. I found the statistics more interesting than the tour of the kitchen :)
crazycruzer68 Posted October 21, 2008 #8 Share Posted October 21, 2008 Just back from the Glory and there was no galley tour, we looked for it and even ask and was told not on this cruise.
dan40 Posted October 21, 2008 #9 Share Posted October 21, 2008 Its just a WHOLE lot of stainless steel. Left, right, up, down, stainless everywhere. Dan
nolaAlive Posted October 21, 2008 #10 Share Posted October 21, 2008 I think they are often around 10 on the last sea day, usually not listed in Capers. Make friends with a Platinum member and ask them when it is.
Cotton Posted October 21, 2008 #11 Share Posted October 21, 2008 Being a retired chef, I'm always interested in the galley tours; however, I've not been overly impressed. Some have been nicer than others. Some have been a short walk through the prep area; some give demos on fruit/veggie carvings; some feature dessert prep; some a sous chef chats about food. Varies cruise to cruise. I've always noticed a little blurb in the Capers as to time/place. Look closely.:)
travel girl23 Posted October 21, 2008 #12 Share Posted October 21, 2008 We just got off the Conquest Sunday and they had a galley tour offered. It was advertised in the Capers. Since this was our first cruise being Platinum, they offered a special tour for Platinum guests. We enjoyed it very much and we even got to taste a chocolate mousse. (Yum!). Here are some pictures. fargodakota Posted October 21, 2008 #13 Share Posted October 21, 2008 I know they do not, but I would love to tour the engine rooms. Being an ex-Navy engineer that would interest me a great deal. But the galley tour does sound interesting.
