Belize Snorkel with Kids

Does anyone have advice on what would be the best snorkel trip in Belize with children (ages 8 and 5 1/2)? Thanks in advance!

The ship's snorkel trip to Rendezvous Cay is a good choice. Took our grandson, Philip, who is skittish over deep water.

The snorkeling around the island was excellent. A reef literallly surrounds the island. Since it's relatively shallow, Philip wasn't spooked and thorughly enjoyed himself.

The boat anchors near enough to the island to wade to the beach.

The snorkel boat picks up at the ship's tender door.

The only negative is that the snorkel boat is crowded, but once at the island that becomes a samll complaint.

Thanks for the reply! My kids would probably be a little nervous over deep water, too so that sounds like a good idea. I'm definately going to look into it. Do you know if there was an age limit?

OK, so another question...what is the Rendezvous Cay trip listed as on Carnival? I looked at the excursions but I didn't see it. I did see Sergeant's Cay. Thanks again!

You could also do a ship's tour to Goff's Caye. The boat picks you up right at the ship and takes you to a tiny island [minimal facilities]. You can go out and snorkel from the boat or stay at the island and snorkel in the shallow waters around it. I'd think it would be good for kids.

There are a number of small barrier reef islands near Belize. Judging from photos, they are very similar. \

I suspect the snorkel trips would be alike.

There was no mention of a minimum (or maximum :p ) age limit.

Thanks for everyone's input. I booked the Goff's Caye excursion through Carnival. It seemed the best for us and the kids and everyone seemed to have good experiences. I'll let you know how we liked it!!:)
