Just wondering is it even possible to see the real Haiti, or is ther no way out of the Royal Caribbean areas?

You can't get out of the Royal Caribbean area at all as the entire "island" (it's really a peninsula even if I can't spell the word) is fenced.

It's a really lovely place with some nice beaches if you wander away from the crowds who all flock to the first beach. The Dragon's Breath rock is pretty neat to play on too.

The closest you can get (aside from the kids on the outside of the fence begging if you wander far away to the edges of the "island") is the Walking Tour where a guide talks a lot about the history and present situation in his country.
