TBIRD Posted October 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2008 Hi Everyone, We are looking at doing a transatlantic somewhere between February and March of next year. Does anyone know what the Atlantic is like temp. wise during this time period? Thanks
ortrud Posted October 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2008 We Did Two Transatlantics One In Yhe Middle Of April, Weather Was Cool And Ship Very Windy. Little Swimming Or Sunbathing. Another One In The End Of March. It Was Freezing, We Spent All Our Time Indoors. Would Never Go This Early Again.
Sue L Posted October 27, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2008 Which ship is doing the transatlantic that early?
Druke I Posted October 27, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2008 We did a trans-Atlantic late Mar 08, on Oceania's Regatta, Miami to Barcelona. Fairly smooth seas, moderate weather. Also did a trans-Atlatic, Mar 98, late great Royal Princess, Buenos Aires to Barcelona. Atlantic was like a mill pond, and had warm weather. There are no guarantees upon the ocean re sea state and weather. We have had some very rough trans-Atlantics coming westbound, late summer/fall/winter. JanineM Posted October 27, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2008 We did a TA this past March/April (left March 29th). The weather was pretty darned cold - especially once we reached Europe. It was snowing in London when we were in France :(. The temperatures we encountered were outside of the averages (much cooler than average), so it's probably luck of the draw whether you have warm weather or cool. Where you are crossing also makes a big difference - although we were on a more southern route, which should have been warmer. We'd definitely do the same crossing again. I'd just bring some more warmer clothes for layering.
