Vip ?

If you do the VIP disembarkation, do you get off the ship before the self-assist or after the self-assist?

I was going to do the self-assist due to an early flight. Just curious how it works. Thanks.

On my last cruise in september (inspiration) vip was after self-assist.

We just got off the Oct. 18 sailing on the Glory and were VIP. We received a letter, in our cabin, that told us to meet in the Amber Palace (showroom) at 7:00 a.m. We put our bags out the night before. It just depends on what category number you get. We got category one, so we were one of the first people off the ship. It was before the self-dembarkation people were let off.

I was on the Fascination in August and was given a #1 tag and we put our bags out the night before. We ended up sitting for about an hour as the self people left. Then we were taken down a hallway and to the front of the line.

When I cruise with Carnival I'm off before self-assist. They always have us meet very early at a specific location, and then walk us through what seems like a maze or two, and then we're off...always the first group into the terminal. Only once (on the Miracle cruise) were we off after the self-assist pax.

On the Ecstasy yesterday, the VIP self assist went first, then the regular self assist, then VIP, then general debarkation.

It all went very smoothly and quick!

This is how it's been for all of my cruises since turning Platinum.

The VIP self-assist (means you are carrying ALL of your own luggage off!) meets in one area (around 7:30am). This group is escorted to the door and allowed off once customs has been cleared. Then regular self-assist - again carrying all of their own luggage, Then VIP regular who left bags out the night before meets in another lounge and are called off after self-assist. This can vary due to how many folks choose to self assist. On shorter cruises, then can sometimes be a larger number.

Hope this helps!

While each ship may vary some....

BASICALLY...

you get off in this order

Platinum (VIP) self assist

Regular self assist

Platinum (VIP) Debark (where you left your luggage out the night before)

Regular Debark

If you have VIP self assist...you will get a letter that tells you when and where to meet.

On the Fantasy class ships...this can be a chaotic mess and some times VIP self assist is forgotten. (has happened to us 3 times this year alone) :(

But I see you are on the Liberty , so this should not be an issue.

The Fantasy class ships have debarking on a deck with cabins...so that adds to the confusion.....

The Legend in May was our BEST VIP Self Assist...because 400+people were lined up to do the self assist (luggage in hand) from the Atrium all the way to the main Forward Theater....and the ACD walked us right past them.

We were literally the 4th people off the ship...woo hoo!!

On the Sensation it was before the self assist and on the Fascination it was after, and during the first called numbers. What a waste that was. My kids (not vip) got off and to the car before dh and I.

When and how do you request VIP self-assist as opposed to regular VIP? Or, is the letter to all VIPs and simply provides instructions?

As a Platinum member, we always get a letter that says...."if you want to do Platinum Self Assist...be at this location at this time".

I do not know of any other VIP Self Assist except for Platinum and the CVC (the now discontinued Carnival Vacation Club) contracts that are still being honored until they expire. On "some" ships Cat 11 and 12 get VIP Debarkation but I do not know if that includes self assist.

That's exactly how it works for folks who put their luggage out the night before. Glad they were on the ball with you folks.

The VIP self assist on that cruise was non-existant until grabbed ACD Gary to escort us off. He had forgotten us.

I can't believe we finally got to cruise together and did not meet. Of course we did have 2 less days .... thanks Hurricane Gustav!!

As usual, I lived in karaoke!!! Had a blast with Aretha and Joey.

Suppose we decided to do Platinum (VIP) self assist. After meeting where we are told, can we use elevators ? Or do we have to use stairs ?

My cousin is now platinum and he was suppose to be one of the first off the Ecstasy Oct 23 with self assist but he was not and he was upset. Non platinum people were left off before he was. I could see why he could be upset but he had no reason too as he lives just 45 minutes from Houston.
