Bermuda Longtail Posted November 3, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 3, 2004 How was your cruise to Bermuda? Did you go to dinner at Sapori and/or Tuscany? If so, what did you think.
MeBob Posted November 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 5, 2004 Sorry, but our trip to Bermuda was the worst we ever had. Never book a trip to Bermuda by ship in October. After we left NY, and were having dinner, the ship started to rock. Well, that rocking was a hint of things to come. It continued and increase and increase and kept us in our cabin, seasick for all the days to Bermuda. I lay in bed until 3 or 4 in the morning just listening to the banging of the waves on the ship. The seas finally cleared as we sailed into Hamilton. We stayed in and around the ship and really didn't go anywhere. When the ship left Hamilton the rough seas returned again. It was back to the cabin for us for another two days. Sorry we weren't able to follow your suggestions, maybe next time. We really did appreciate all your help. Need any New York advice? Bermuda Longtail Posted November 5, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted November 5, 2004 I am so sorry you had such a bad trip. It's just luck of the draw on these things. Thanks for the NY offer - thought we were going there after Christmas but hubby needs American Airline miles so we are off to Las Vegas instead. CruisFran Posted November 6, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2004 Sorry your cruise was bad MeBob! But as Bermuda Longtail said, it's the luck of the draw! We have cruised to Bermuda 14+ times, most of which were in mid-Sept/Oct., and have had great weather and smooth seas. A shame, once you arrived, you didn't explore! Hopefully you will return, to that beautiful island!...a particular favorite of ours!!!
Host Kewlguy Posted November 8, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2004 We also had the rough seas going to Bermuda 10/23 but on the Horizon out of Norfolk. We took dramamine as soon as we boarded the ship because we heard the night before we sailed that we were heading into a storm. We did not get sick although it was difficult sleeping with all that noise and rocking on Saturday night. We had a wonderful time in Bermuda in port for 5 days and look forward to returning 4/05. Everyone runs to their cabin during a storm which is the worst place to go. My advice is go anywhere but your cabin until you are ready to sleep. Thank god for ear plugs also. WeBeCruisin' Posted November 8, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2004 We had the same problem on the October 9th Horizon sailing. On the first formal night, I was the only person at our table and the dining room was less than 1/2 full. My wife felt really bad for about six hours, but recovered around ten p.m. that night. We felt that the best place to be during the day was on deck by the pool reading or napping. Just as long as we didn't have to watch the front of the ship rise and fall. It was so bad they had to empty the pools because the water was sloshing out in huge waves from inside the pool. We didn't make it to Tuscany's, but we did go to Portofino on the "Harbor Night" on Wednesday. It was Northern Italian and very tasty, relatively inexpensive (for Bermuda) and very ample servings. It's about halfway up the hill on the street near Goslings liquor store. Even with harbor night, most of the restaurants were full.
MeBob Posted November 9, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 9, 2004 How come you don't need frequent flyer miles to go to Vegas......but you do need them to fly to NY.
Bermuda Longtail Posted November 11, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted November 11, 2004 How come you don't need frequent flyer miles to go to Vegas......but you do need them to fly to NY. It's the amount that he needs to keep his Gold status so he needed a long trip not a short trip.
