TVLady2 Posted November 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2004 It was a pleasure meeting my fellow CC members at our Mon. morning get together. To bad it was cut short for the munster drill. It was nice of NCL to set up refreshments for us also and was fun to meet some of the officers that attended. Let me tell you, I had such a good time that I booked my 4th Dawn cruise while onboard! Even though our embarkation was a complete nightmare, I quickly forgot about it once I stepped onboard. The staff is superd. I was treated like royalty! They were constantly at your beck & call. "Can I get you this Madam?" "Can I help you with that Madam?" BOY, was I getting spoiled! And get this(and I dont know why) But everyday trays of horsdoeuvres & desserts were sent to my cabin, compliments of the concierge, hotel director and his assistant and a special invite to a small gathering with the captain & his officers besides the Latitudes party. TVLady2 Posted November 4, 2004 Author #2 Share Posted November 4, 2004 To my surprise I also received VIP debarkation status. WOW, I mean I was in a plain old balcony cabin, not the Garden Villa! Could it have been that I received this special treatment cause it was my 3rd time on the Dawn? And/or met and chatted with the officers at the CC meeting? Any ideas or thoughts on this out there?? Our handicapped cabin(10700) was very comfortable(about 229sq) for the 3 of us. The only strange thing about it was the large round pole from floor to ceiling near the front door. It was quite annoying and bumped into it a few times. The weather was perfect. Did not go to GSC but did stop in Freeport. We did take the excurtion to Disney MGM at a reduced rate($89) which included Bus, Entrance fee, and $13 food voucher that we used at the ABC commisary(good food). In Miami we took a cab over t Bayside Marketplace & shopped and listened to the band. See Part
TVLady2 Posted November 4, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted November 4, 2004 In Nassau & Freeport we shopped some more. So much to do onboard the ship, everything from the shows, the pool games and even the casino were fabulous! Werever we ate the food was very, very good also. We went to Salsas one night and had Mamas meatloaf(best I ever had). Venetians surf & turf was excellant and the buffet was just to my liking. No complaints at all. I am going to write a letter to NCL, but not about the long delay in losing 1 full day at embarkation, Nor the measley $20 credit an open bar given to us to make up for it, Im writing them about how wonderful the entire staff was to me and how much I enjoyed THIS Dawn sailing and I cant wait to sail her my 4th time next year! Go and enjoy this ship and see what I mean.....Til next time, Carol

Galley Girl Posted November 4, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 4, 2004 Tvlady2, I was on for a second time and for my friends it was their first. We had gotten the same treatment as you and boy did we all feel special. Im to looking to go again trying to get some more of my friends to join me. I just cant say enough about the ship and its staff. Everything was perfect and if there was a problem Im sure they would have been up on it in a heartbeat. The room stewarts we had felt like I had my own personal butlers. What ever I needed they had done it before I could blink my eyes and they always sent me off on my day with a big smile and kind words. Ya see I could go on and on and on.LOL Joanne
maja Posted November 4, 2004 #8 Share Posted November 4, 2004 Hi TVLady2 I couldn't agree more with you & Galley Girl.! All it took was a few minutes in the lobby to observe how committed the entire staff was last week. Complaints were flying at them left & right. They were under extreme pressure yet never showed it. Lots of people expecting something in return for the delay. Ship happens!!! Get on with the vacation & have fun! It didn't really matter to me where we were going because I truly enjoy the ship. With all the extras going on, & the beautiful weather, I had a wonderful time. (did you know that drinks were 2 for 1 the last 2 nights? I don't drink much, but I thought that was an amazing gesture since alcohol is the #1 money maker for the cruise lines). The staff proved to me once more that they are tops! As far as the goodies you received, this happened to me on my 3rd Dawn cruise. I still don't know why!!! I did notice that the concierge service had things a bit mixed up last week. I had a large group with me. 4 were in Penthouses. 2 received a complimentary dinner & wine & 2 received daily treats. The couple next door to me had the same butler who brought us a goodie every afternoon yet they received only 2 the entire week. I know 4 couples that were in mini-suites and only 1 received a note from concierge letting them know she was available. If you met with the officers & they knew your name or cabin #, it's very possible that's the reason for the VIP treatment. I saw the handicapped cabin for the first time. It is huge!!! You must have really enjoyed the extra space. If you get it again on your next cruise at least you know where the pole is now!!! As for me, the penthouse was a splurge this past cruise. Probably a once in a lifetime treat. With the inexpensive upgrades offered, I couldn't pass it up. In Feb. I am booked in an ocean view. I'll be banging into the wall for the first few days till I realize I don't have a balcony. Great to have met all of you at the cc meeting. Wish we had more time to get to know each other better. TVLady2 Posted November 4, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted November 4, 2004 The first night when I met my room stewart, I slipped him $10 and asked him if he could get me 2 NCL bathrobes to use for the week. He said he will see what he can do, and the next morning their they were! I also asked him for 2 freestyle dailys every nite and he took care of that also. He made great towel animals and one night he surprised us with a towel MAN reading in bed! He took my sons hat & jacket & sunglasses stuffed it with towels, propped it up reading a book laying in bed under the covers(used pillows for the body) What a sight that was! When we first entered the room we thought there was a strange man in our cabin! On another thought, the cot that my son was using was hard as a rock, I called the hotel director and they came up in 5 minutes and pull on a egg create & a extra duvet and it was perfect. I also had a bon voyage fruit basket sent to my room, but it was filled with kiwi, highly allergic to it, so I called the F & B director and they replaced the entire basket within minutes! What wonderful service we received! By the way, I did book another handicapped balcony cabin, but across the hall without the Pole!! Til next time.....Carol

maurick Posted November 4, 2004 #11 Share Posted November 4, 2004 I have to agree with Tvlady and Maja. The Dawn was great to us, our 3rd time. Service was outstanding and food out of this world. One night I didn't like my dinner. They fixed that real quick bringing me a new seleciton I picked and how sorry they were. It wasn't their fault I didn't like it. We are looking forward going our 4th time, maybe in March. Going to Freeport was a extra suprise. Can't wait to sail again.

I just finished reading everyone's comments, and I couldn't agree more. The Dawn was fabulous! I also loved Paul and Mike and all of their fun antics. I've been on five cruises on other cruise lines, but this was the best. It was great to meet some of you at the end of our get-together. Sorry I was late...darn that drill! Thanks to Sebastian for the help getting home.... I found it with no major probs! Happy sailing everyone!

I am trying to send a pic of the towel person that our steward surprised us with....complete with my hat, scarf, bathrobe, shoes, my sister's glasses, shoes and room service menu. It was a riot! But so far I haven't been able to make the pic small enough to send the file. I will keep trying! Pam
