We were on the week before you. We thought the service was fine. A bit slow to bring cream for our coffee a couple of times...but other than that, it seemed fine. Not pushy, attentive, water glasses were regularly filled, coffee was replenished....

Did you have some specific problems with the service the week you went?

We were on Jewel CA/NE 10/18 to 10/28 and I thought the food was not as good as it was last June on the same ship. One fo the reasons we wanted to sail the Jewel again.

The service was slow because of the precautions taken to avoid the spread of the norovirus. Most staff looked tired and they were putting in long days. Some waiters/resses in both main dining rooms were very efficient and timely. Others were not. It's not rocket science to bring the sugars and cream together right after pouring the coffee but some servers did not get that. Often dinner took way too long but some main land restaurants do also.

Also, the buffet was slow because of the staff having to serve every pack of butter, tea etc. I think that NCL did what they could under the circumstances. The long lines for main dining rooms were also because they were severely understaffed. That became a problem a couple of evenings but not enough to pay to dine in another restaurant. I think NCL is making a big error in charging to eat in Mama's and Tango's. The food there is not "special" enough to validate an additional charge. Both dining venues were underutalized and it also added to the back up in main DR's.

We still prefer free style and casual and will sail with NCL again. I just wish they could serve more variety of food (turkey, pork and seafodd linguini were served twice each) and even good old meat and pototoes for one entree each evening.

Will be looking to see what others have to say.

Ruth ;)

Just wondering what you-all on this cruise thought of food and service in

the two main Dining Rooms. Thanks.

Fair at Best. The Same quality received on the Majesty on 9/13. Obviously,

the Buffet was much better on the Jewel than the Majesty.

NCL excells at comfort food. The Lobster tails in Both Dinning rooms are Shorts and illegal to sell in NJ, to small. If you want a regular size Lobster Tail

(4oz) It will be available in Lebistro for $25pp.
