Not P & O but a bit of history...

We sailed on Pacific Dawn's maiden cruise last November and the three of us are sailing on Pacific Dawn in March next year. My wife and I took her mother to see the Pacific Dawn last night at Station Pier in Melbourne. She last sailed on the Fedor Shalyapin in 1976 on a cruise that supposedly met up with a Russian submarine between NZ and Australia.

When we got back to her place she pulled out her album from the cruise including a menu and the brochure on the ship that was out at the time.

Thought it might be of interest to CC members, maybe bring back some memories for anyone that sailed on her.

Thanks Don. I really appreciate you posting the ship information. I can't wait to show my parents this, although they might not be as excited as me because I don't think they had a great cruise :o. I'll have to ask them if they still have any info like this...I don't even think we have photos of the ship, just family photos.

Also have a copy of a small amount of video taken on the cruise, mostly the islands..

wow!

I remember a headline in "The Australian" about that incident.

It read:

"Things that go bump in the night" :D

Created quite a stir at the time.

Interesting to look at that dinner menu from way back then.

We seemed to eat simpler fare in those days. :)

35 cents for a glass of wine as well.

Wonder what todays kids would think of the childrens area.

The brochure did say that medical aid was free..
