capnpugwash Posted November 4, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2008 Accepting the age and miles under her belt, I wonder whether any previous passenger can advise if there is wireless computer access on board and is it worth taking own laptop to access emails or whether one has to use ships PCs? TIA Jim
the english lady Posted November 4, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2008 i don't think there is wireless access on the ship. only their own in the internet room. we used one for the first time on our last cruise and it was not as expensive as we thought it would be. if it is to do emails i guess you could do it even cheaper to actually go on line only to download emails, then off line to reply and only go back on line to send. or if you take a laptop see if you can pick up wireless when ashore. merecat Posted November 5, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 5, 2008 There is no wireless access on any of FO ships only the desktops in the computer room .As English lady says ,log on ,download your mail ,log off ,answer your mail ,log on and send. You will need to buy a card to swipe ,costs £20 for half an hour ,then you return the card to the reception and they give you £10 refund. On Balmoral the card system is slightly different.:)
commanderspark Posted November 5, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 5, 2008 no wireless and use as suggested before - only note you can use your security pass for access to a PC in the internet room (you dont need to go to reception after you get your card on joining). Swipe it and you get charged for time on line.
