sgsing Posted November 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2004 We are first-time cruisers and are taking the Ecstasy out of Galveston. What are the advantages/disadvantages to being on the different decks? Is there less motion/traffic/activity on any of the decks? Which one is preferrable? MrPete Posted November 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2004 I recommend the Empress deck, near the atrium.
kajsb Posted November 4, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 4, 2004 Having sailed the Ecstasy three times, I recommend the verandah deck. The deck is very quiet since it is not a well traveled area. It's mainly limited to those in the few cabins there. You can have a balcony or choose an inside room on this deck. You get extra walking when dining or going to the pool, etc. But, we can all use extra walking on a cruise.

sgsing Posted November 4, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted November 4, 2004 Dec. 27th - with my extended family (8 adults, 9 kids). Right now we are on the Main Deck... have heard that being lower contributes more to motion sickness.
SevenVII Posted November 4, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 4, 2004 Just the opposite....the closer you are to the bottom(fulcrum) the less movement you will feel in that sense. I have heard that some lower decks can be a little more noisy than others due to the proximity to engine and what not.

Stircrzy Posted November 4, 2004 #12 Share Posted November 4, 2004 Just like cruisers, there are all kinds of opinions as to the "best" place to have your cabin... I prefer the Upper Deck, midship...and I want all of the thingamajigs and whatnots listed on the website, but I especially want the ENGINE to be operable. The Upper Deck is in the middle of the ship vertically and a midship cabin is in the middle of the ship horizontally. On Fantasy Class ships (such as the Ecstasy) the Catagory 12 cabins are in this area, with ocean view cabins fore and aft. Inside cabins are...well...in the inside, or middle of the corridor. It is very quiet and close to everything I needed.
ginag Posted November 4, 2004 #13 Share Posted November 4, 2004 Hi! Not trying to change the subject, but could anyone suggest a place on the Ecstasy to have a "meet & greet"? What's the name of the piano bar? Thanks for your time~
aggieastrosfan Posted November 5, 2004 #14 Share Posted November 5, 2004 Hi! Not trying to change the subject, but could anyone suggest a place on the Ecstasy to have a "meet & greet"? What's the name of the piano bar? Thanks for your time~ On the Elation (same layout) we met on Elation's Way at the casino bar at 3. It was perfect, as the area was practically empty, and it was the perfect place to identify the group.
