We will be sailing on the Explorer in May (Cozumel. Costa Maya, GC, Belize). Wondering what kind of critters (reptiles etc.) you encounter on this excursion(if any). We will be with our 10 and 8 year old. Are they too young? Thanks!:)

We did the cave tubing last year and don't remember seeing any critters. You may see a reptile or two ( lizards) on the walk through the jungle to the river, but usually there is quite a bit of noise created by the group walking and you scare anything away.

The water is probaly too cold for reptiles. I don't remeber seeing anything unusual or anything that would scare a young child. There were about 3 on our tour that were 7-12 and they didn't seem bothered by anything.

Not sure if I read it one the Carnival board on the Ports board, but there was a story of a lady tubing near the wall of the cave and she was bit by a snake. I normally take those kinds of stories with a grain of salt but several people posted that they were on her ship or that knew her and they confirmed it. That being said, I will be cave tubing anyway but staying away from the cave walls!
