Condado Plaza Hotel?

We are considering this hotel for our pre-cruise stay in February. We would like a hotel with casino on the beach. Our choices are limited (we have Travelocity incentives coupons...will not use Priceline.) I understand that it has recently been renovated and wonder if anyone has stayed there since?

We are also, hate to say, smokers (no flames, please!) I understand that the hotel rooms are non-smoking, and we will follow the rules. We will get an ocean view room with balcony, so I am assuming that we can smoke on the balcony with no problem. Any experience here?

This is our first cruise out of San Juan, finally!

Thanks,

Judy

Judy,

We stayed at the Condado Plaza in March for one night precruise. It was an absolutely beautiful hotel. Yes, they have a beach but it was not big and the water was not very enticing. The pool area is wonderful!

We had a balcony on our room so I would assume you could smoke there. We don't smoke so....

It's a short taxi ride to the pier.

I would have stayed there for our upcoming cruise but we wanted to save some money for other things!

I would recommend the Condado to anyone. And I did post a review after our trip on trip advisor with pics if you are interested.

Enjoy!

Kim

This is a great hotel, we go to San Juan every year.

This is right on the bus line, you can take the bus to Old San Juan, to the large shopping mall, all for about $1.00 each.

There are many great restaurant in walking distance (I think they are better than Old San Juan and less expensive) There is a great Cuban restaurant (Venja Ropa?) ask ay the desk. They are reasonable compared to many San Juan restaurants. There is a very good Puertrican restaurants, ect...

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the info.

Smoking: for anyone that is interested, I had a response from the hotel and smoking IS allowed on the balcony of the room, with the door closed, so no smoke goes in the room. Not a problem for us and we will follow the rules.

I'm booking it tonight!
