darchibald Posted November 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2004 I have read some posts about refridgerators in the rooms along with some sodas and other goodies. You are charged if you open them. Which brings my question. What exactly does the money we pay cover? I would assume that the fuel and port fees. I know that we won't eat more than $100.00 while on the four night cruise. Seems like these goodies would be free. Just wondering.

kitty9 Posted November 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 5, 2004 What's not included: tips, specialty coffees, alcohol drinks, soft drinks, bottled water, photos from the ship's photographer, items you purchase in the shops, shore excursions, alternate restaurants (like Johnny Rockets on RCCI ships or the fancy evening alternate restaurants), premium ice cream on some ships, casino, internet access, phone calls from your cabin phone. WindyCity Posted November 5, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 5, 2004 darchibald, it also covers salaries, maintenance of the ship and, of course, a profit for the cruise line.
etoile Posted November 5, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 5, 2004 The refrigerators in rooms are actually the minibar. You are charged for whatever you eat at the minibar, just like at any hotel. And just like a hotel, your money pays for your room, but NOT the minibar. However the difference is that on a cruise ship other dining is free. You are already paying for three meals a day, but the minibar goodies and the others that have been mentioned (alcohol, etc) are an additional cost.
