Sanibel*Gal Posted November 13, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2008 How much?? Do you know what umbrellas and chairs cost. Thanks!! We just got back from Aruba and spent time at Eagle Beach, it is a beautiful beach! First, DH wanted to take a taxi and we found one that would take us for $10.00. I had read on this board that you can take the bus for $2.30 round trip. I balked at the taxi idea and instead we went to the bus station, it is within easy walking distance from the ships. The bus is number 10 and there were quite a few people who did the same. I had a map and just followed the stops along the way until we came to Eagle Beach which is across from Amsterdam Manor. We got off, the beach is right there and lounge rentals are available for $5.00 each. They also have a tiki bar but be careful, drinks are pricey and there is also a shower to rinse off after enjoying the beach. After a few hours we went to the bus stop, waited about 5 minutes and took the bus back downtown. So easy!!! Andrea ~~~~~~
Murphey Posted November 13, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted November 13, 2008 Thanks for the info. We just go back on the ship. We ended up going to Palm Beach because that's where our "group" wanted to go. Everyone was trying to tell us that there were no facilities at Eagle. So...for anyone else who is interested: We had to go out of the port area to secure a cab for 12.00 for 4 of us to go to Palm Beach. He dropped us off at the new Riu Palace hotel. 4 chairs and a large umbrella was $45.00. The beer ar the beach bar were $3.25 ea. We wandered next door to the Radisson and used their pool discreetly, no problem. Was nice for a fresh water swim after the ocean. We then bought 2 beers at their bar for the "rent". $11 which included the tip. Nice day, but probably would have been just as happy at Eagle. SanNic44 Posted November 16, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 16, 2008 If you want to see a nice video of Eagle Beach, virtually empty. Check out my blog under Aruba Beaches. This will give you a good idea of the expanse of this beach.

Any info will be appreciated. We have been to Aruba several times but have never snorkeled there.
Arubalisa Posted November 23, 2008 #6 Share Posted November 23, 2008 We will be in Aruba in February and was wondering if anyone knows of any beaches with good snorkeling from the beach? Any info will be appreciated. We have been to Aruba several times but have never snorkeled there. There is no snorkeling off of Palm or Eagle Beaches. Try Boca Catalina/Cove it is easily accessible from the cruise terminal. A lot of good info: Other Aruba snorkeling info from these past threads: Info & Ideas for Snorkeling in Aruba Touring on our Own + Snorkling http://boards.cruisecritic.com/tags.php?tag=aruba+snorkeling
Beckaroous Posted December 7, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 7, 2008 For $2.30 American you can take the bus to either Eagle or Palm beach ROUND TRIP. Buses run every 10-15 minutes and are REAL busses not vans. We went to the Holiday Inn and then rented 2 chairs with a grass umbrella and table right by the bar for $15 for the day. Just ask people where the bus depot is (2 minute walk or 1 block once you get out of the terminal. Once at the depot ask which bus goes to the Hotel area. Same bus goes to Eagle and Palm beach.
