alohagirl808 Posted November 11, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2008 We've only been on 1 Carnival cruise and my son just loved Camp Carnival and Funship Freddy. We're thinking of doing a RCL cruise but we're worried that our son may not like their program. Has anyone's kids gone to both...if so, what did they like/dislike about each one? Did they prefer one over the other and why? Thanks.
seashell36 Posted November 11, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2008 I haven't been on any of the RCCL cruises, yet. We are looking at them possibly for our next cruise with the kids. I've used Michele's (CruisinMama06) website to answer a majority of my questions and my friends questions (she cruised for the first time with her kids a couple of weeks ago). Michele's site is http://cruisingwithchildren.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html Her site is really helpful!
crusinmama06 Posted November 11, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2008 SeaShell, thanks! Alohagirl - how old is your son? I can try to help you. :)
alohagirl808 Posted November 11, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted November 11, 2008 Thanks for the all the info. I checked out your blog ( a few times actually) and it's great with lots of good information. I was just curious to see if kids get attached to the first one they experienced. When I tell my son that we may go on another cruise with a different kids club, he'll say in a sad voice "No funship freddy". BTW, he's 4 yrs old. ncmomof2 Posted November 12, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 12, 2008 When I tell my son that we may go on another cruise with a different kids club, he'll say in a sad voice "No funship freddy". BTW, he's 4 yrs old. LOL, this sounds way to familiar! My 4yo DS went on a Carnival cruise when he was not quite 3. When we talk about the cruise we're going on in a few months, he asks "will Funship Freddy be there?" When I tell him no, he asks who will be in the kids' camp instead and just doesn't understand when I try to explain that Club Hal doesn't have a mascot... He loves the idea of being on a "cruise boat" again, though, so he's not too upset.
crusinmama06 Posted November 12, 2008 #6 Share Posted November 12, 2008 Well with my youngest (she is 4), she likes the RCCL ships better than other lines. But she LOVED camp carnival. She wasn't as happy with AO because she had JUST turned 3 the week before. They wanted her to sit and be quiet...not her thing...lol. I am anxious to see how my daughter does in February. Since she is slightly older now and used to going to school, so I am wondering if she will do better in AO. I have to say there are just as many activities in AO as there are in Camp Carnival. BUT, Camp Carnival counselors seem to have an easier attitude toward younger kids because they are used to having 2 year olds in Camp. Does that make sense? alohagirl808 Posted November 13, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted November 13, 2008 Yes I know exactly what you mean. My son is very active too and doesn't really like to sit still either (even though he's in preschool). That's another thing that worries me about switching lines because I know that Camp Carnival has a higher tolerance since my son did good there. But like ncmomof2 said, he's just happy to be going on another cruise.
