What song puts you in a good mood?

Island music would be one choice, Christian music would be another.

For Island music - Island in the Sun - (Am I showing my age yet?)

For listening, Simon and Garfunkel, or the Mammas and the Pappas or the Kingston Trio.

For dancing - Beatles, Loving Spoonful

MB,

Actually, I'm more of "Rock and Roll" person, but I see where you're coming from...

"When the sun goes down" by Kenney Chesney and Uncle Cracker. And " No shoes, no shirt, no probelm" also by Kenney Chesney. Those two songs really get me in the mood for vacation and can be considered my theme songs!

Hey OceanCruise..!

There are so many, but for the purposes of this post, I'd have to agree with kclegends03...ESPECIALLY when they play this particular song..."Jamaica Farewell," written by Irving Burgie, aka (Lord Burgess), and made famous by Harry Belafonte.

One of the most pleasurable experiences of cruising is standing on the top deck, beverage in hand, hanging over the rails as the ship prepares to sail away from port, usually around sunset. Almost every time, at some point during the departure, the band will play that song, altering the lyrics slightly...

"...But I'm sad to say I'm on my way,

Won't be back for many a day

My heart is down, my head is turning around

I had to leave a little girl in (band inserts name of port we're sailing from...)"

If you're lucky, another ship will be departing about the same time...with lots of waving and hollering back and forth...

As daylight fades, and darkness overtakes the seas, and to see the lights glowing the ship close by in the inky blue ocean is a beautiful sight...

Those experiences are just ONE of the reasons I'm hooked on sailing..!

Back to "Jamaica Farewell"... for the complete lyrics to the song, visit this link:

http://www.smickandsmodoo.com/aaa/lyrics/jamaica.htm

(A bit of trivia...Irving Burgie wrote eight of the eleven songs on Harry Belafonte's 1956 album, Calypso, which became the first album in America to sell over a million copies.)

But when not sailing, my favorite song...(showing my age here...) would be "San Antonio Rose..." performed by many singers and bands, and I've yet to hear a version of that song that I did not like...

Ashley24 - Live band and plenty of island music. Hot, Hot, Hot always brings back memories of our first Disney cruise. Nothing beats that Disney sailaway though.
