Shopping? Beaches? Where to go!!

We're leaving in a month for a stop in Nassau. Should we book some kind of excursion through NCL or wander on our own? I'd like to do a little shopping and spend the rest of the time either snorkeling or sitting on the beach with a frozen rum punch in hand. So after shopping, would love to take treasures back to the ship. Not sure how much trouble this will be.

The shopping area is very close to where the ship docks and going back on the ship at any time is easy. the beaches are not far either. The BCH resort is only a couple of blocks from the dock and has day passes available. Other beaches are at cable beach which only a jitney ride away ( only one dollar). First time in nassau you will find many interesting things to see and do without taking an excursion.
