Question about private transportation to Galveston terminal.

I live about a mile from the Galveston cruise terminal. I'm sailing on the Ecstasy next spring, but I want to be dropped off by a friend or family member (possibly even a cab). Do they allow drop-offs and pick-ups from personal cars, or do they only allow parking shuttles into the terminal. You think I'd know this living so close, but I just never pay attention, and this will be my first cruise.

Yes, they do allow private cars to pick-up and drop off passengers.

 

One suggestion for your pick-up at the end of the cruise, instead of giving them a set time to pick you up, give them an estimated time, tell them to wait a few blocks away, and then you can call them once you are through customs and are ready to be picked up. That way they aren't in the way waiting for you to disembark.
