Family of 14 Posted April 19, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2004 I had to help my sister with her online documentation tonight. We filled ours in months ago, so I was surprised to see some new information being asked now. Things like pre/post cruise address while in US...what does this mean. Also, all the insurance info. Should we fill this out? Are you sailing on the Mariner 7/18/04?...Click here! or HERE! reggierail Posted April 19, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2004 The pre cruise address is so the cruise line can contact you at your hotel in the event of a delay or cancellation. A lot of info isn't required to be filled out, such as insurance info. beachchick Posted April 19, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2004 I found that more than 1/2 the requested information was not required, so I didn't include it. I only give the minimum that I have to because I figure Big Brother is watching enough. Some of the optional information is for marketing, some is for RCI convenience, and some is used as additional (not required) information for pre-cruise security. beachchick
madforcruising Posted April 19, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2004 I had the problem that they requested the past cruise Address in US as a required field. Well I´m leaving the US day of debarkation. After several tries ( as they don´t let me out there without the information) I just filled in N/A. That was the trick that worked :-) First pics of the undocking of the Jewel of the Seas: http://community.webshots.com/album/125049819TVWuuS Jewel of the Seas left Meyerwerft Shipyard See Photos of River Ems passage http://community.webshots.com/album/131001309cIkOdH Jewel of the Seas - 05/28/04 Scandinavia / Russia / Baltic Jewel of the Seas - 09/28/04 Canada / New England 09/2003 - Legend of the Seas Hawaii 06/2003 - Norwegian Dawn Florida and Bahamas 2002 - MS Columbus - Cruise to nowhere 2001 - Grandeur of the Seas Mediterranean and Transatlantic 2000 - Splendour of the Seas Transatlantic 2000 - Viking Star on the Danube River 1999 - Vision of the Seas Panamacanal cruise 1998 - Vision of the Seas Transatlantic 1997 - Crystal Symphonie to Mexican Riviera 1996 - Delta Queen on the Mississippi 1995 - Legend of the Seas to Alaska
Family of 14 Posted April 19, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted April 19, 2004 madforcruising - I don't think that post cruise info is required of US citizens. I can see where insurance may come in handy if there is a problem and RCCL wants to know if you have insurance with them or not. I am going to leave that blank. As for the pre cruise address, I may enter it in case they need to call me saying we have been upgraded. Are you sailing on the Mariner 7/18/04?...Click here! or HERE! madforcruising Posted April 19, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Well maybe they just make these fields mandatory for non US people like me but I had really problems with it until I figuerd out to put N/A in there to complete the form. Otherwise they didn´t let me complete it. Maybe they should have the option of clicking on a field Departing on day of Debarkation. I assume I would have had the same problem if I would fly in the day of Embarkation and wouldn´t have an adress for pre cruise stay (BTW I booked the precruise Hotel through them, so they know where to find me). Family of 14 Posted April 19, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted April 19, 2004 I remember reading either on this board or another (many months/years ago)about a couple that returned from their cruise to a phone message from a cruiseline. It had been left on their machine as they were not at home. They had taken a pre cruise trip and left home the week before. The message was from the cruiseline informing them that they would like to upgrade the couple to a suite but needed their permission since they had asked not to be upgraded without consent. The couple had no idea and ended up with the stateroom they had booked. I guess the cruiseline didn't hear back from them and gave the suite to someone else. Anyone else read that post? That couple was sick! I believe I am going to go back in to the online documentation and leave my cell phone number. Also leave it with TA. We will be taking a two day pre cruise trip. Cruising89143 Posted April 19, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 19, 2004 I have read that some of this info is being requested by Homeland Security. Not sure which items being asked is requested by this group or if it is just another way for the cruise lines to get more personal info.
