stuNYC Posted November 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2004 My wife needs a wheelchair to walk long distances. She does not need a wheelchair accessible room.I am planning on a cruise on the Dawn. While usually we like larger cabin, it appears that they are all the way for and aft. I am the one who has to push her and being properly located on the ship will save me a lot of effort. I would greatly appreciate your help since I don't have the deck plans. Common sense would say mid ship, but with a ship that is greater than three football fields I am not sure and don't want to make a mistake that we really tire me out! Thanks for your help
shoreguy Posted November 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 7, 2004 stuny Take a little time and study the deckplan. for me being forward works out the best. It all depends on what you two want to do. From the forward elevators easy access to the Shows, the casino, Impressions for dinner, Spinnaker lounge, Dazzles, The Bistro. I found we spent 80% of our time in these areas. EileenN Posted November 7, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 7, 2004 I am leaving on the Dawn tomorrow and will be with our daughter who is in a wheelchair for distance. We have handicapped cabin on the 11 deck at the mid elevator. I will be glad to report when I get back in 11 days.
Bill G Posted November 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2004 Do your self a big favor- get a handicapped room! On the 11th floor midships there are two that are beautifully located. The handicapped rooms have much more room, wheelchair access, better bathroom, and dont cost extra. They are located around the ship, but those I know are in prime locations. You can ask your TA for a handicapped room, it helps if you determine the exact room you want from the deck plan. Or call NCL Special Services and they will help you.
