referee Posted November 22, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2008 Does anyone have any suggestions for restaurants near the hotel jazz in barcelona..We will be staying there pre and post cruise. Not too expensive, and with our limited vocabulary in spainish not too difficult to order...Thanks

patatz Posted November 23, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 23, 2008 We stayed at the Hotel jazz and really enjoyed out visit. It is located in an excellent spot about 2 blocks off the La Ramblas. We ate at Mamas Cafe which is walking distance and had a great dinner. The food and service was excellent. It was well within our budget. Their website is mamacaferestaurant.com You can check out the menu and see if it's to your liking. Have a great time in Barcelona a great city. Chelly Posted November 23, 2008 #7 Share Posted November 23, 2008 I will be staying at Hotel Jazz pre-cruise in Oct. 2009 and will book within next day or two. Hotel Jazz must be popular among cruisers.
Meena Posted November 25, 2008 #8 Share Posted November 25, 2008 We stayed at the Hotel Jazz this past October and it is a nice hotel; however, be prepared to bring a bar of your own soap. The soap is the size of a bite size Snickers candy bar. We must have ended up asking for at least 6 additional bars. The soap actually melted like chocolate every time you washed. Also, the bathtub could have doubled for a skating rink; extremely slippery. We had to put towels down. The room was nice and clean. I wish we had read more threads on Cruise Critic because we had a hard time finding a decent restaurant around there to eat.
gmcc Posted December 4, 2008 #9 Share Posted December 4, 2008 chelly...we actually booked through Expedia, and saved about $50 over hotel's website....we're going in sept 2009 and were told to book pretty quickly. my advice is to do the same referee Booked at Hotel Jazz based on numerous recommendations and you are right, in our case Expedia was approximately 10 USD per night cheaper, however there was also a "no refund" cancellation policy, unlike the hotel's 24 hour cancellation policy. I always prefer to pay a little extra if necessary in case of the unexpected. Have lost several non-refundable fees over the years so it is always a concern now. itsjb1 Posted December 8, 2008 #10 Share Posted December 8, 2008 There is a very good tapas restaurant near the Hotel Jazz, with "Condial" in the name. It is on Rambla de Catalunya (not the Ramblas) just up from Gran Via and has chairs that are black and white on teh boulevard.. Very good, very reasonable and menus in English.
