itskim52 Posted November 23, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2008 We will be in SJ on Christmas from 12 - 8. Will anything - stores, forts, etc be open? Will we be able to even find a taxi to take us to a beach? Thanks!
RayInPR Posted November 23, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2008 Just like in the States, some things may be open, others may not. The forts will definitely be closed. They're open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Some taxi drivers will probably be working. I'd guess that the free trolley will not be running. rainforestgirl Posted November 23, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 23, 2008 The trolley should be running, it will just be a little less frequent. You will be able to find a taxi to the beach. Tourist areas will have something open....but not a lot. Luckily, OSJ is pretty just to walk around and look at the views, art, architecture etc. There are a few exhibits that will be open : http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/earth-from-above/ http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/bodies-exhibition/ Stuff to see outside: http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/osj-outdoor-art/ And being Christmas, after dark (about 6pm), the city will be all decked out in lights: http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/osj-christmas-lights/
orquidia Posted November 24, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 24, 2008 Puerto Rico has one of the longest Christmas seasons in the world, the peak and most cherished christmas holiday is the 3 Kings Day on January 6 (just like in Spain but here is bigger). Children expect gifts under the tree, thanks to the kings with their camels who "come and visit" , and adults have the biggest parties of the season, specially in the heartland.
