Everything about the Victory

Good morning everyone....:D

I will leaving soon to see my travel agent and will be booking a week's cruise aboard the Victory. I have never sailed with Carnival before and am using this site as a learning tool about the ship. I do have some questions though that I couldn't find. What type of shops are on the Victory? What are the different restaurants/cafe's that are included in cruise price (not specialty restaurants for a fee)? There are a few families cruising togeter, so do balcony dividers open up with the next stateroom? Are there refrigeraters in the cabins? (we are looking at a 8D) Are there any adult only places to hang out? What about the kids club, any opinions? (my son will be 11)

Basically, I am looking for any/all info about the Victory. I would also love to see pictures of anyone has any. :)

Thanks very much!

Erin

Typical shops you would find on a cruise.. small nothing outstanding

liquer, t shirts, jewelry, formals..

What are the different restaurants/cafe's that are included in cruise price (not specialty restaurants for a fee)?

Two Main Dining rooms -you will be assigned to one.. either the Atlantic or the Pacific.. No supper clubs

There are a few families cruising togeter, so do balcony dividers open up with the next stateroom?

Not sure check out cruise deck plans . com

Are there refrigeraters in the cabins? (we are looking at a 8D)

Some do some dont.. See above

Are there any adult only places to hang out?

Aft Pool

What about the kids club, any opinions? (my son will be 11)

Sorry can not help .. didnt use Camp Carnival.

Basically, I am looking for any/all info about the Victory. I would also love to see pictures of anyone has any. :)

Personal Opinion: The ship is ok.. I think the decor is dreadful.. very green

The dining room layout is awkward.. as is the ship.. Read the deckplans..

By the time we figured out "you can not get there from here".. the cruise was almost over LOL

There are many people who love this ship and it has been getting positive reviews...

Have a great cruise!

The deck by the funnel is adults only. I think the only refrigerators are in the suites - we've never had them in a category 8 cabin on Victory (four cruises).

My kids have loved Camp Carnival. Since your son is 11, he will probably spend most of his camp time in various locations around the ship, not in the Camp Carnival area itself except for late-night parties. The 9-11 group can sign themselves in and out of Camp Carnival; parents can instruct the staff not to permit them to do so and require a parent to sign in/out, but that means the kids won't be able to do activities like scavenger hunts. We compromised with our middle son (now 12) - we gave him permission to sign in and out, but we would meet him when he signed out.

I have three albums with Victory photos online at http://community.webshots.com/user/nybumpkin. The most recent (August 2008) shows the Lido movie screen that was added last fall.

woohoo.....it's official! I have booked my first Carnival cruise!!! :D Now I have lots of planning to do!

nybumpkin, I loved your pictures....thank you so much for sharing! Can you tell me if there are several shops onboard, or just a few? Our last few cruises have been on the Adventure of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas, both have the Royal Promenade with lots of shops, cafes.....just wondering about the Carnival shops!

Also about the dining...I know that there are the main dining rooms, but what about alternative options. I realize there is a buffet, bbq and pizza place, but what about a cafe/coffe place or ice cream. Looking at Carnival's deck plans, it show a pizzeria and bbq by Siren's pool....is this pool the adults only pool?

As you can tell, I have a lot of questions so any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

You'll love the victory. We took it on our first cruise and had a wonderful time. If you're looking for an adults only pool you're out of luck I believe on any ship. However I do know that the siren's pool gets alot less traffic then the main pools. I know they have an adult only hot tub at sirens and there's a georgous view from the back of the ship and the wake. If you happen to experience bad weather like rain they'll close the roof and it'll fill up fast. Dining options were only the buffets and the dining rooms. The ice cream and pizza are 24 hour and the bbq is open most of the time. You can get more than bbq there (burgers, dogs type things.).

I will also give you a good tip for some peaceful romantic time with very little traffic. If you look at the deck plans, you'll see that all the way forward on decks 5, 7 and 9 you can access the "secret doors". These lead to the decks that are on the front of the ship. Just follow the hallway all the way to the front and go threw the doors that have no room # on them. I believe they have a sign that says something to the effect of "keep door shut". You'll find wooden benches to relax on and you can get some amazing photos from there. We went to the bahamas and it was spectacular for sailaways. If you search for my review it has pics of the interior of the ship and some of the pics that I got from that deck.

Shops, just a couple ....... the typical "cruise souvenier" shop and on the other side of the Promenade a shop with jewelry, perfumes and a few accessories. There's also the "formalities" shop where you can rent a tux, buy room decorations, maybe a red rose for your sweetie.

There is a place on deck 5 between the casino and piano bar where they sell specialty baked goods and coffees. Ice cream dispensers (24 hours) on decks 5 and 9. Also on the Lido Deck are a place to get great sandwiches or "Oriental" food (hours vary, check your Capers daily)

I don't remember a specific "adults only" pool but the pool at the back of the ship is usually less crowded.

Regarding opening the balcony dividers. Once you have your cabin numbers check out cruise deck plans .com. Not all dividers will open; it depends on which way the divider opens and where the cabin balcony doors are. Your room steward will be able to do this for you.

The ship is really not that hard to navigate. Decks 5 and 9 are your friends. You can get just about anywhere from either deck. The real fun is finding the correct elevator/stairs to get to your dining room.

I found the green relaxing, and not overpowering, but that's just me.

One word of caution - watch out for the seahorses on the staircases!

Enjoy!

Sweet. We have a forward cabin on deck #9 on April 26th, 2009.

Thanks for the tip.:)

One recent addition to the coffee bar (Coral Seas Cafe) is gelato. It is an extra cost like other items at the cafe, but it looked awfully good and there was a line for it often.

Erin, congrats on booking your cruise!

My wife and I sailed on the Victory from Charleston on 26 May 2008 to Freeport and Nassau. You're gonna love it. See my pix by going to http://americansabroad.blogspot.com/

Then scroll down to "Bahamas Cruise" and click on the picture to see the album. There are links to info and virtual ship tours in the captions under the photos.

As I was looking at your wonderful webpage I realized that we were neighbors in Summerville twelve years ago. I know it was twelve years ago because my youngest son was born there and he turns 12 today. This sure is a small world!

We are booked on the Victory out of San Juan next march, and I just read that there's no supper club on this ship....:(

I was hopping to do the supper club because we don't have the kids this cruise, and with the kids its to complicated:rolleyes:

I tought every Carnival Cruise ship had a supper club, how come its not the case???????

Supper clubs are available only on the newer ships. Fantasy-class and Destiny-class ships do not have supper clubs.

Good evening everyone.....:)

Thank you everyone who is providing me with info about the Victory and Carnival in general!

spinkk....thank you so much for post your pictures! I love looking at cruise pictures and it's great to see people's pictures of the ship!

nybumpkin, I realize that supper clubs are not on the Victory, but I am very curious what they are....can you please explain to me what it is?!

Another question I have is....we are booked in a 8D on the LIDO deck...is it noisy there with the pools and buffet, etc?

Thanks again everyone :D

Hi Erin - To answer your Lido question first, it's a great location. We had a Lido cabin on Conquest and loved it. I was worried about noise, but we had none. You don't get any traffic by the cabins themselves. And the location is WAY too convenient to the pools and the buffet.:D

Supper clubs - On the newer ships, there is an extra-charge restaurant available; right now the charge is $30 per person. It's a fairly small dining area with steakhouse-quality food and more personalized service. While we really enjoy the supper clubs, I wouldn't be concerned about not having one on Victory. When we sailed Conquest and Legend the supper clubs were available, but we didn't go - we thought the food and the service in the main dining room were good enough and didn't see a need to try the supper clubs.
