lovin2cruise123 Posted November 25, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2008 When you get cash to use at the casino and use your sign and sail card, if your sign and sail card is backed by your credit card, will there be a cash advance fee applied to your credit card whenever you use it to get money for the casino? aggieastrosfan Posted November 25, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2008 Your S&S bill is all run together by Carnival as one big purchase. They don't distinguish purchases from cash advances in the casino.
MadManOfBethesda Posted November 25, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 25, 2008 No... That's what I like: concise and to the point. You answered the OP's question without pontificating unnecessarily. However, that probably won't stop 25 other people from answering the question as well. :D

SCUBA Mark Posted November 25, 2008 #12 Share Posted November 25, 2008 If you use your card in a slot machine, there is no fee. If you use your card in the slot machine to get money from your sail and sign account, there is a 3% fee. If you use your card as a bank to move your casino money back and forth, there is no fee. I was looking over my bill with one of the women in our group who was demanding what kind of "Entertainment" I was getting on the ship for that much money. :D Sorry, didn't mean to pontificate, but thought it was an amusing anecdote. :o

Mark Ummm, I was just on the Destiny and used my S&S card in a slot machine several times, and it wasn't to just get money from the player bank. Never charged a fee. I even used it to get some cash when I left my cash in the cabin and wanted to play tables. Loaded up the slot machine from the S&S account, cash out, took the coins to the cashier, got my $100 bill, and went to the BJ table. No fee. ETA - I don't remember my prior cruise, but I definitely haven't been charged a fee at the slot machine since my May '07 cruise.

I have no doubt there was a 3% charge to debit sail and sign account on the cruises we were on. You have to be very careful which button you push. Mark Mark, Something must have changed since your last cuise. There was no fee when we were on the Ecstacy last week. In fact, as I drew on the sail and sign account (to get some extra tipping money), it said "no fee." I then cashed it out right away (to the bank) and took the card to the cashier, cashed out with the demoninations I needed for extra Tips for "JONNY" and our room steward who were both outstanding. rock59 Posted November 25, 2008 #21 Share Posted November 25, 2008 I have used my card both at the slot machines and at the tables over the last 2 years and 4 cruises. No charge at the slot machine ever, always 3% at the tables (which I knew already, but the pit boss has always informed me again in case I didn't know). And I agree, 3% beats the ATM Charge...was $15 on one cruise!
msubobcats Posted November 25, 2008 #22 Share Posted November 25, 2008 This has got to the one of the most entertaining websites on the planet. I just sit back and read for quality entertainment. Where else can you go on the web and read a post asking a question about cash advances, and within fourteen responses, someone calling someone else an "ass"? Good times all around... I will have to admit I didn't even try it a few weeks ago when we were on the Conquest since I got burned before. We will be on the Ecstasy this Saturday. Woo Hoo. If it charges me 3%, I will tell them that they aren't doing that any more.
lovin2cruise123 Posted November 25, 2008 Author #25 Share Posted November 25, 2008 So I can go to the slot machine and swipe my S&S card for $100 and no fee will be charged... that's what I'm understanding, right? No fee from my credit card OR the 3% "entertainment" fee? I want to play some slots but not if it's going to cost me some extra fee, I'm sure I'll lose enough money to those machines.
