Discover Scuba excursion in Nassau

I did it with my wife on our trip aboard the Carnival Sensation. When we did it the water was about 77 degrees (Oct 2008) and it was really clear. The water temp was bearable and they provided wetsuit rentals for $10 each. They take you out in the bay area just a little ways from Atlantis and where the celebrities live in a small fishing boat. The weather was rough going out due to a cold front moving in.

The main instructor was Corey and he was awesome! Everyone was very nice and patient. They give you a crash course in diving and have you run through some drills in the water before you are officially able to go on the dive. The deepest you go is about 15 feet and you are only out there for about 30 minutes depending on how quickly you burn through your oxygen.

Mentally, it is unnatural breathing underwater so it takes some getting accustomed to. Plus, you are wearing heavy equipment so it also makes you think you are going to sink to the bottom but the buoyancy control vest will keep you from sinking. If you don't pass the drills or don't feel comfortable diving they will give you some snorkeling equipment. Also, the air in the tank is very dry so it will give you a bit of cotton mouth.

The reef and the the marine life are incredible. They had many yellow/black fish which would swim right up to you (can't remember the name of them). They will tell you but remember not to touch the reef because it is very sensitive. You will have a blast! Well worth it. :)
