55HudsonMet Posted April 19, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2004 irishgirl: We upgraded from an inside to a D1 balcony on the Navigator for $600 total last spring. At the time, this was still $600 less than the balcony price had we booked the room prior to the cruise. Check in as early as possible and go to the pier coordinator's desk at the left end of the check-in counter in Miami as soon as you get your SeaPass cards. Enjoy... BLUEICE Posted April 20, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Here you go. This is what I managed to find out about pier upgrades. Not sure if these prices still stand but it might give you some ideas as to what you might expect. To upgrade from: Inside to RS (Royal Suite) $1500.00 Suite to Suite 1000.00 Balcony to Balcony 600.00 Outside to outside 300.00 Inside to inside 100.00 Outside to RS 1200.00 Suite to suite 700.00 Balcony to balcony 300.00 Outside to outside 100.00 Balcony to RS 1000.00 Balcony to suite 400.00 Balcony to balcony 100.00 Suite to RS 800.00 Suite to suite 400.00 Again, not sure if these prices still apply. As far as I know they do. When we upgraded from a balcony to the Owners Suite on the VOS (Sept 2003) we were charged $400.00 and it was money well spent. Prices are in US currency. I hope this information is what you were looking for. Good luck and I am also looking to do another pier upgrade for the EOS (Sept 2004). Enjoy your cruise. PH8 Posted April 20, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Thanks so much...............do have a question though...........why different prices for same catgories(i.e.suite to suite...1000,700??) I am trying to figure out how much from an OS to the RS on a 7 nighter....(Hey,I can dream, cant i ??) BLUEICE Posted April 20, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Parrothead8 - you are welcome for the prices on pier upgrades. These prices are based on a 7 day cruise, therefore, the price from OS to RS would be $800.00. The difference in price from suite to suite (1,000 - 700) would be the various categories. For example from Inside cabin to RS would be $1500.00, from outside cabin to RS would be $1200, etc, etc. First you have to determine what cabin you are in and then where you would like to upgrade. Lets say you had an outside cabin and wanted to go to a balcony, look at the list above and find outside to balcony. You should come up with $300.00. Hope this answers your question. BLUEICE Posted April 20, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Parrothead8 - you are very welcome for the info. $800.00 to upgrade froma suite to a RS would be an excellent purchase. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Is the RS available on your cruise? It is already booked for my EOS however, there is still about 9 OS cabins available for $400.00 I would not hesitate to upgrade again. Have a great cruise. BLUEICE Posted April 20, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 20, 2004 No that is not per person, it is per cabin. It does not matter how many people are in the cabin. $400.00 remains $400.00. Hope this helps. BaliChic Posted April 20, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Hi there, We just returned from our cruise on explorer of the seas. We booked a Grand Suite and through continuous checking, i knew that there were still 3 or 4 owner suites unoccupied on my cruise. When we asked the pier coordinator- the person we asked was interrupted by this other woman, who quickly shouted NO! NO! Only Junior suites available. Owners are sold out!! Turns out that one suite was the prize for BINGO the next day. So i wondered what happened to the other few.. ah well, i guess we just lucked out!!!! happysinglemom Posted April 21, 2004 #21 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Okay - here's what is probably a really stupid question - if you want a better suite - why wouldn't you just book it in the first place instead of upgrading at the pier? Mike&Lorraine Posted April 21, 2004 #24 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Marilyn - yeah, we've been thinking about it for a while. Since we're now "seniors" and saved a big chunk of change today we're even more willing to pay it if the price is right. I'm watching for a senior rate in a Grand Suite, but they're not showing it yet. If it happens and the price is right, we may upgrade before sailing. Happysinglemom- The answer to your question is very simple. I'd pay $400 for an upgrade, but it's just not worth it to us to pay the $1000+ it would cost now. We booked a cabin we'd be happy in, but if we can get a better one for a little bit of money, why not?
BLUEICE Posted April 22, 2004 #25 Share Posted April 22, 2004 Happysinglemom: Mike and Lorraine took the words out of my mouth. What I do, is book the category we want (balcony) and it thats what we are in, we are happy with that choice. However, if I could go from a regular balcony room (I believe 188 sq ft) to an Owners Suite (588 sq ft) for $400.00, I will grab it in a heartbeat. The OS suite, comes with alot of perks that a regular balcony cabin does not include. Not only that, but for my cruise they are showing a OS for $4,700 plus for two people. Pay that kind of money no way pay $400.00 extra for that same cabin no problem. This is all US currency, so by the time I do the exchange, it is well over $6,700.00. I think you will get the message......
