Sugar&Buddy Posted December 4, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2008 Is Antarctica only place to do penquin viewing? Any tour companies offer that tour? We are doing southbound cruisetour w/HAL in July, 2009.
bottom-dragger Posted December 4, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 4, 2008 no penguins in alaska, other than the occasional stray. though...........about 15 years ago the forest service was out reaching for comments on an environmental impact statement they were processing. some one created a bunch of comment postcards and distributed them to offboarding juneau cruise ship passengers. the fs was flooded with comment cards wondering why the impacts on the mendenhall penguins had not been addressed in the eis. Yukon Posted December 5, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 5, 2008 I am surprised that there is even strayed Penguin in Alaska. I thought it was so far north from antartica. Unfortunately, they seem to arrive as "pets" who are then released, with zero chance of survival - http://news.mongabay.com/2007/0605-penguins.html
