Please tell me what u did in Cozumel???

Recommended Posts

We did the Fury Catamaran Snorkel, Sail, Beach and loved it. I would highly recommend it if following up snorkeling with a little beach fun and lots & lots of Margaritas is your cup of tea.

I can't decide. It will be our last port, we are snorkeling in Grand Cayman, Hiking in Jamaica, and not sure where we are going instead of Haiti...

I know Cozumel has GREAT snorkeling too, but not sure if 8 y/o daughter will be able to handle it. (water seems deeper).

I just want some opinions from the people in the "know".

I can share my 2 cents about Tulum. My wife and I were there last month.

It was BY FAR the highlight of the excursions for us.

I was concerned with reports I had read about the choppy ferry boat ride and the 75 minute bus ride.

They were right about the ferry boat ride...but with Bonine ( probably spelled that wrong) I had no trouble.

As for the bus...I was picturing an old school bus with no windows...

WRONG! It was the nicest bus I've ever been on. Very air conditioned. The guide was a Mayan decendant and had a lot of interesting cultural information to share. The bus ride sailed by.

The ruins and the view from Tulum are simply amazing. The best pictures of the entire cruise were shot there.

The return ferry ride drops you off downtown with about 90 minutes for shopping. Then it's a $6 cab ride to the dock.

My Advise:
Spend the money, take the time, take seasick pills and be ready to be amazed.
You won't regret it!

We rented a jeep right at the pier and then headed for Paradise Beach for a couple of hours. Had a great time there, kids loved the iceberg and they had great drinks and food. It is a beautiful, clean beach. Then we hopped in our jeep and drove to the other side of the island where we also stopped at a couple of beach clubs and had more food and drinks! That side of the island is much rougher, lots of neat rock formations on the beach and huge waves. It is also very uncrowded which was nice. After that we drove into town for some shopping and then drove back to the pier to drop the jeep off. It was a wonderful day in Cozumel!!

I did the Sea Lion Swim at Chanakaab Park. It's right next to the Dolphin Swim and costs much less $59. It was wonderful!!! It was in a pool about 5' deep, and you're wearing a vest. TONS OF FUN!

Last year my husband, daughter and son-in-Law did the Speed Boat tour (before Carlos and Charlies)

Tons of Fun. The Guys drove out to the beach for sun, and Lunch. The Girls drove back. What a blast to jump the waves in a 2 man speed boat.

On the way back to the dock, had to stop at
the "Farmacia" for some over the counter items.

Great Day!!

We just got back from Explorer 4/10. While in Cozumel we went to Xcaret. This was my 4th time there. We just love it. Swimming through the caves if fun for all ages. The grounds are one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. You can swim witht he dolphins for a fee. It a GREAT day. I would go back again. Just take Bonine for the boat ride there and back.

Bellejewels - We rented our jeep through Avis and I believe it was around $75. This included the extra insurance that everyone suggests you get. If you go to cozumelinsider.com, there is a link to where you can reserve a jeep. I just did a courtesy reservation, which means I didn't give them my credit card # when I reserved it, but that also meant that if they ran out of jeeps before we got there we were out of luck. However, we were with a group of people and I wanted to have some flexibility if our plans changed. There are also tons of places to rent jeeps from without reservations once you get there. This was our 4th time to Cozumel and we have done the jeep thing every time! If you are thinking of doing this, there is a GREAT map of Cozumel available at cancunmap.com. It shows all of the beaches and roads on the island & lots more. You order the map and if you like it and want to keep it, you send them $7.95 in an envelope they provide. Which ship are you sailing in June? You will love Cozumel!!

We did the dolphin swim in Cozumel. What a blast! BUT even better than that, was the Sea Lion Encounter right there in the park. You cannot book this on the ship, but you can book it when you arrive for the dolphin encounter. This was much more one-on-one time with the animal - and the sea lions are cute, funny and well worth experiencing!

We went to Chankanaab. We went on our own instead of booking through the ship. It was a wonderful place to go. The snorkeling was great and there was much to do. I'm sure your daughter would like it if that is what you decide to do.
