earwing Posted December 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2008 I was wondering if anyone has taken the Scuba tune-up refresher course on a Royal Caribbean cruise and has some feedback about it. I haven't dived for a year and was hoping to do a dive during my cruise on Adventure of the Seas. I don't know whether to do the refresher course at home before I leave or on the boat. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
Loves_Dogs Posted December 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2008 Welcome to CC earwing. You may have better luck posting this on the Scuba section, here is the link: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=40 I only dive on vacation so I am curious to see what some of the more 'seasoned' divers have to say. Before our Mariner cruise, my son (who dives a lot more than I do and has advanced certification) took me to the local dive shop to practice my skills. HorrorFan Posted December 9, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2008 While its been a few years since I have done any scuba, and I haven't taken a diving course on a ship, I firmly believe you are better off brushing up before you go. And definitely better taking your first courses beforehand. Who wants to spend that amount of your vacation time taking a course. Besides, I'm thinking it would be a better, and cheaper course offered locally. Just my $.002 worth.
