Princess out of Pan American Terminal in Feb

We are sailing out of San Juan in Feb on Caribbean Princess. The two previous sailings we have made out of San Juan have been from Pier 4 so I have a couple of questions regarding the Pan American terminal.

1. In the past we never had a problem buying liquor from the duty free store and, as long as it is out of sight of the security, not have it confiscated it before boarding the ship. Is it the same in the Pan American terminal?

2. We want to drop our bags off at the terminal and then go to the bacardi factory. Is there a place where we can check our bags (prior to the ship's boarding time) at the terminal or do we have to go over by Peir 4 and check them there. We were going to take the ferry over to the other side of the harbour and catch a cab to the bacardi factory.

3. I assume there is not a lot to do at the Pan American terminal. Is this the case?

Thank you and I look forward to any info you may have.

Cheers,

Peter

#1 liquor

There is a liquor store in the PanAm pier between where you check in and where you board the ship (just like the other OSJ piers). You are able to take liquor on in your carry-on, though how strict they are may depend on the cruise line.

#2 Bacardi

There's nothing around the PanAm pier, so the only way to drop your luggage there is to check it with the ship. If you plan on spending some time in OSJ anyway, your best bet might be to drop your bags at either Barrachina (on Forteleza) or Audio Guia (on Juan Corretjer Street), for a small fee. And then take the ferry + taxi to Bacardi as you suggested.

#3 PanAm pier

There's nothing around the pier.

We are planning on dropping our luggage off at the ship itself between 11:30 and 12:00 and then taking a taxi straight over to OSJ. If there is not a long line to check in we may board the ship first. Otherwise, we will just keep the cab, drop off the bags with a porter and go. Then we would check ourselves in later - probably between 5:30 and 6 PM.
