sportsmum Posted December 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2008 Could someone explain to me, please, how wifi works on cruise ships? I understand going to the internet cafe and paying for minutes. What I don't get is if you bring a laptop and sit in an area that gets internet- how do they know? Is wifi more expensive? Is it worth it to bring the laptop for the daily check in with the kids?
spamwhiches Posted December 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 18, 2008 In order to "log on" to their service you have to be given access. And of course you have to pay for that access. I find the services pricey & up/download speeds not much faster than dial up (on the ships I've been on). They are the only game on the sea so they kind of got the market cornered. sportsmum Posted December 18, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted December 18, 2008 Okay, that makes sense. I will just use there equipment and save my carryon allotment for something else! So? Do you know where the undo button is on a Mac?:D
