Concierge Question Pearl Spa and Carlos

We are on the Pearl next week with Carlos. Does the Concierge still help make spa reservations? We had the concierge do it on our 2nd NCL cruise, but the 1st time, 2 years ago, Alex would not. Does anyone have the 4-1-1 on this? When I tried to ask my PCC she didn't know, I got one no and one yes from calling NCL my own self.

Also, how is Carlos?

Muchas Gracias!

My experience with not just Carlos but with our Conceirge on the Star is they will help you with any thing you need. Any reservation. Just MHO, but a Concierge that would not help you make that reservation is not worth their weight in salt. The Concierge on the Star - Simone - actually helped us with a issue that came up with a shore excursion we had booked. She, of course, could not fix the issue herself, but acted as a go between for us and the excursion desk. Issue was resolved.

I have to say that Carlos is not my favorite and I found his service to be lacking. He did everything we asked for, but always felt like we were putting him out. When we gave him his tip, he didn't even say thank you, it's a pleasure, etc. I mentioned that once and got a little flamed, but it doesn't bother me. I have no doubt he is good at his job as I have read on here so many times and he did do everything we asked of him. Just felt the little touches we have gotten from other Concierges was a bit better. He is a nice guy though, just as a person.

Enjoy Carlos while you can. It is my understanding that he may be leaving the company this spring. If so' date=' he will be dearly missed.

PE[/quote'] Hey PE - did I ask you yet if you know who will be the concierge on our 4/12/09 cruise? Do you know?

It seems to be our experience on NCL, too. I don't know if it is because we travel with the childen, but Alex Forbes treated us - well, he ignored us competely so it doesn't matter- .

On DCL we were treated like unbeleivable royalty by the concierges- 4 different ones. Same on RCCL.

I can't remember our 2nd concierge on NCL but he was okay-helped when we needed it. But neither time have the concierges been close to friendly.

If CArlos is leaving in the Spring he may not give a rat's patootoe anymore- but this time Iwill NOT put up with having the concierge ignore me so that he can mangage the GV and the many extra NON CONCIERGE family members that go along with them.

Flame Away- my friend survived, but Alex treated us horribly. Sad to hear he is coming to Pearl in the spring- this would be a deciding factor on going on this particualr ship again!

We had a great experience with Carlos - he was always willing to help us out and even checked in with us 2-3 times per day to make sure we didn't need anything. My favorite experience with him was the day in Samana. He called in the morning and asked what we were doing that day. We said, off to the beach. He said - "just call me when you are ready to go and I'll take you down." We weren't watching the time and ended up calling him just as the first tender was getting ready to leave. We had no idea that we were going out that early, as we normally don't.

Carlos met us at the elevator, took us down to the tender and we got out to a huge line of people in the elevator bay. He said "oh, this won't do" and proceeded to walk us through the crew area and put us on the tender through a back door. Amazing. Well more than we expected. He also got us a great recommendation for a beach that would be good for my DS (then 3).

You'll love Carlos!

  • 3 months later...

We have had services of Concierge on two cruises. We have used them for some things that might be difficult otherwise.

But the spa - maybe it is me, but I find it just as easy to call the spa direct vs calling the concierge who then calls them and then calls me back and has to ask if I want to 10am slot or the 1pm slot and then calls back to the spa and then calls me back to confirm.

Yikes.

Hello..I see this is an older thread, but I am also interested in the Concierge on the Pearl. My understanding was that Erika Heim is the current Concierge, am I wrong? I certainly hope Erika is, and will be on September 20th. She was terrific on the Sun last April/May

Do you know how I can e-mail / get in touch with her?

Assuming there is only one Erika, I have been told that she will be the Concierge on the Spirit for our cruise on May 1st, Boston to Bermuda.

This will be our 2nd cruise to Bermuda, the other was on the Majesty in 2005. Carlos was the Concierge on that cruise, and could not have been better to us. He made it a point to stop by our cabin every day to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. Because I was the coordinator for a family group, he was also concerned about a few minor problems that occurred in some of our cabins. Since the Majesty was an older ship, there were a few environmental issues that he took care of.

The best deed he did for us was locating a pair of missing prescription glasses that our DIL left on the head board of her bed, and did not realize it until we were just about to leave the pier. Fortunately Carlos was there escorting passengers off the ship, and immediately took charge of the situation. Since the room had already been cleaned, he was unable to locate them at that moment, but assured us he would stay on it, and was confident they would be found and mailed to us. Sure enough, he called the next day, from sea, and informed us they had been located, and they would be mailed as soon as possible. He asked for permission to have a passenger he knew and trusted to mail them to us the day they returned to Boston, and the plan worked to perfection and we were very grateful.

I've always hoped to meet up with him again!!

Tom
