Design Toy Posted December 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2008 I have seen a few people mention "carriage rides" in both of these ports, can you please tell me about them? Cost, where to, length, where to purchase. Thanks! Teresa:)
hdawson Posted December 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 27, 2008 The carriage rides, that I know of, are in Merida. They leave from the historical area's central plaza and take you out onto Paseo Montejo, a broad, upscale and somewhat European style boulevard and return. About 50 minutes for $20US. The carriages hold four adults comfortably and also could take a couple of small kiddos. Excellent value and great sightseeing. The local bus to Merida costs three dollars round trip. ilmsg Posted January 10, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2009 Thanks. Does it take 45 min each way (to and from)? Are there things to do in merida just walking around for the day? Things to see?
YucatanToday Posted January 10, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 10, 2009 There's lots to see in Merida! It's 45 minutes away from Progreso. There are art galleries, great shopping, great food, cooking classes, museums, etc. Read more here:http://www.yucatantoday.com/destinations/eng-merida.php
ilmsg Posted January 10, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 10, 2009 is it worth doing both the carriage ride AND the turibus or do they go to the same area?
WilliamLawson Posted January 19, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 19, 2009 The Turibus does a scenic loop from downtown to the Gran Plaza mall in the nothern part of the city, while the horse n carriage is mostly downtown and along Montejo, Merida's main avenue. :)
