Holland during garden and tulip season

We are tentatively booked on a May 9th Canal Cruise for one week which includes Aalsmeer flower auction, Delft, and the Keukenhof Gardens, etc. Is this too late in the season? Has anyone actually gone on a Tulip Cruise and missed the tulips?

We have done a very similar tour on Viking Europe in the end of Apr and beginning of May 2003 and there were a lot of tulips.

Looks that the last day for the gardens is May 20th (click on the link), so you have time to see everything.
