abenaki Posted December 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2008 Which beach would you suggest for a Sunday in February, arriving in Frederiksted? The ideal beach would be of course beautiful, quiet and not overly crowded, (water toys of no interest) and with a good lunch available? Thanks
RandomIam Posted January 16, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2009 We were in St. Croix last week with our family of four on the Magic. We walked off the pier and found a nice little beach a few steps to our left as we reached town. It was free, with a bathroom/changing rooms and a drink cart, with a little beach restaraunt about 3 minute walk. I thought it would be crowded, but it really wasn't at all. Most families I think had booked excursions or paid a lot of money to go to a 'quiet' beach. This was beautiful, free, and pretty quiet. We stayed there for 5 hours. Hope this helps someone. No need to book excursion in St. Croix...enjoy the close beach and nice little town.

We will be in St. Croix in about three weeks and this is the kind of beach we are looking for, walking distance from dock, clean, quiet and a nice place to spend a couple of hours. Even this close to our cruise, we don't have many firm plans. Will have a private tour in St. Kitts and renting a Harley in St. Marten. Thanks again. The Islander Posted January 20, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2009 Cane Bay is a nice beach, good snorkeling if you are interested, its a popular beach so on Sundays it will have a good amount of people but not too bad. There is a reataurant right accross the street. Davis Bay at Carombola seems to be offered by some cruise lines; this is a beautiful beach for laying and enjoying the tranquility, the water is not great for swimming, if its calm then you can swim just fine on the far left, the far right is rocky. The excursion seems to include pool use and other things. In Frederiksted the whole coast is basically one long stretch of sand; in that area you could try Sprat Hall Bay which has a resturant there, or Rainbow Beach also has a restaurant; or you can head the opposite direction from the peir to Sand Castle Beach - restaurant available through the hotel there. The Islander Posted January 20, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 20, 2009 Fort Frederik Beach is the beach just a short walk after exisiting the pier, you can see it from the pier, just next to Fort Frederik - an old Danish fort. You can find photos of that and other beaches on a St. Croix beach guide, try http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0geu65uInZJm_wAzXpXNyoA?p=beach++guide+for+st.+croix&fr=yfp-t-305. --Islander
BBJJTJ Posted January 31, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 31, 2009 This sounds like a good option as we are on the Disney Magic with our 9 year old grandson, early March. The only question concerns shade. Are there shady areas along the shore, or can you rent an unbrella?
CrucianGal Posted February 1, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 1, 2009 I read recently (in our local newspaper) that lounge chair and umbrella rentals are being offered at the F'sted beach on cruise ship days.
