tom_uk Posted January 3, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2009 There's a hint in the latest entry in James Cusick's blog (http://www.jamescusick.co.uk) that Arcadia has spent some extra time in Barcelona as a result of technical difficulties, and a a result wil miss the call at Vigo on her way home. Does anyone have any more details? - I can't find anything on the P&O site.
MattyBarlow Posted January 3, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2009 The failure of a standby generator caused an extended stay in Barcelona resulting in skipping Vigo on the return journey to Southampton. Passengers have been given £100 each as a reimbursement.
GlasgowGuy Posted January 10, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 10, 2009 Hi, I was on cruise J824. We were supposed to leave Barcelona at 2 am on the 1st but didn't leave until 4:45 pm, almost 15 hours late. Shuttle buses were laid on until 1:30pm with all passengers needing to be aboard by 2 pm. Not many passengers bothered to go back into Barcelona as being New Years day everywhere was closed.
GlasgowGuy Posted January 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2009 I would much rather have had a day in Vigo instead of £100 compensation. Having a port cut on a cruise is never enjoyable, especially when it's the last port of call. I was in bed well before 5 am but was woken by the "Alpha Alert" over the tannoy system at 4 am. Seems that a drunken partygoer had fallen down some stairs breaking a limb and had to be taken to hospital in Barcelona.
