Belize City after Bannister Island worth it?

Hi, we will be in Belize on Jan 22. We are doing the ship tour to Bannister Island at 10:15-2:15. The tender boat will give us the option to return to ship or go on to Belize City. With only a couple hours, at the most, after the beach, would it be worth it to go to Belize City? Is there anything to do/see? Is there shopping etc right near the port area?

Yes, the shopping area in Belize is growing. There are several new shops with crafts, clothing, jewelry etc. There are also several nice restaurants. The port is our usual destination:)
