Please help! Booking Day Pass Sans Souci

I want to book a day pass to Couples Sans Souci while docked in Ocho Rio on our upcoming cruise. Truth be known, I love the idea of an AN beach- always wanted to give it a go- and the resort itself looks lovely-

I have emailed the resort twice with no response. I tried to call the 800 # today, but the office is closed.

How does one go about getting a Day Pass?

Also, what is the best means of transport to/from the resort and how far is it ?

Thank you very much for your help! Happy Sailing!

I'm also planning on spending the day there, so I called the resort direct. They quoted $50 per person for all-inclusive day. You do not need to book in advance. They said there are taxis at the pier - just tell them that you want to go there - they figured it would be about $25 round trip for the taxi - not per person.

You will all love Sans Souci and not want to go back to the ship! We just got back from vacationing there and it's one of our favorite resorts in Jamaica. All the other Couples resorts are great to. Sans Souci is very near the cruise ship pier about 10 minutes away. We tryed Couples Ocho Rios when in port in 2002 and we have been switching back and forth between cruising Royal Caribbean and staying at one of the Couples resorts in Jamaica ever since.

I was there earlier this week; a stop on the Celebrity Century.

Usual hassle at the dock for a taxi. The government driver asked for $80 for two - I don't know if that was one way or round trip. I said no, I was willing to pay $20. The driver then told me to see his friend on the other side of the chain link fence to the left. I spoke to that driver and he said $25, and I said fine, and off we went. He was actually a licensed tour guide. He told me that this trip was his first work since Christmas day because cruise ship passengers weren't spending money. I didn't believe him but gave him a $5 tip.

At the resort I was escorted to the reception desk by security (don't even think of just walking into this place and blending in) and was quoted $100 per person. Having done my research here, I said that I called and was quoted $60 a person. She asked if I was a cruise ship passenger and I said yes, and she said fine. I wonder if I had said $50 a person she would have said fine too? She did ask me who I had spoken to and when I couldn't come up with a name she dropped it. I did not have a reservation and I would not bother making one especially if I had to pay in advance, because if the weather was bad I wouldn't want to be locked into going there. I think there is little chance that if you showed up you will be turned away, perhaps only if they had rented out the entire resort to a group. If I were concerned about that I would go onto their regular website and try to book a room for my date - if a room was available I would not be worried about being turned away.

I paid by credit card and she asked for my license to make sure we would actually leave. I handed it over, but was nervous that I would somehow forget it, or they would lose it, and after some conversation I asked for it back and she returned it. She gave me a map of the resort and a list of activities - no directions - we were on our own.

We started walking down the steps and came across a tiny pool tucked into the lush greenery - there was one person at the pool. I mention this because there was a bar at the pool with can Coke products and beer in bottles - the bar at the beach had fountain Pepsi and draft Red Stripe. We kept walking down - I have lousy old knees and was a bit nervous about the steps but they were fine - coming up I should have walked slower than I did.

The beach was pretty, in a cove, and there was no possibility of vendors or anyone else harrassing you. There were plenty of nice lounge chairs, and each chair had a float on it. People layed on the float and also took it into the water. There were no umbrellas but some palapa (?) huts and shade from trees. We were able to get towels there. The water was nice, but being in a cove, there were no waves of any kind, and it only got waist deep in the enclosed area. They had some watersports on the beach which we did not try. There was beach service and the beach bar was a few steps away, with the beach pool in front of it. It was a quiet, relaxing beach with an upscale clientele, no loud music, etc. We did not go to the AN beach. The bathrooms were clean.

Perhaps the only disappointment for me was lunch. We like simple food of good quality and could not find anything to eat - we couldn't eat the chicken or the hamburgers and the salad was wilted. The french fries were good, and since I was now on my SECOND beer, I ordered a small pizza, and that was edible.

We did stop in their store because I wanted a bathing suit, but the selection was limited. Be sure to bring plenty of sun screen because the selection is limited and extremely expensive.

All too soon we were walking back up the stairs, where there was a taxi stand, and we were charged $15 for the two of us. The traffic was fairly heavy back to the port and the trip took about 25 minutes, so allow enough time.

Despite the food we had a great, relaxing day in this beautiful resort. We even watched a wedding. I would definitely return.

Hope this helps - have a great cruise.

We have been to Couples Ocho Rios, but I would like to try Couples Sans Souci for the day. Does anyone have an opinion on which one they liked better?

I can't remember how far they are from the pier. Which one would be closer? Thanks in advance!

I just got off the phone with Couples Sans Souci and they confirmed that the Day Pass fee is $50.00 and they also told me that Couples Ocho Rios is closed for renovations. I guess that makes my decision easy - as to which property I will be going to!
