mickym Posted January 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2009 We will be cave tubing in three weeks and don't own water shoes. Did I once hear that there is someone renting them out at the caves?
Loucat Posted January 5, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 5, 2009 I have not seen water shoe rentals, but you can purchase them easily before you sail. I am not so sure I want to rent shoes worn be others. I also use them in the yard, so they do get used;)
Kimmer727 Posted January 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2009 You can usually pick them up at Target, Walmart, or even Jewel, Walgreens for about $3.00 a pair. They are not expensive at all.
mickym Posted January 8, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted January 8, 2009 Thanks for the help. Here is the problem. We live in the midwest where it is cold and snowing. I have looked through the stores around here and the only ones that carry water shoes this time of year are the sports stores charging $18 for them. Since we will probably only use them this one time I don't want to pay that. Will there be a place in Cozumel that I could pick up a cheap pair? bakerintn Posted January 9, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2009 We are going cave tubing with Major Tom and they advertise that water shoes are available to rent in the park. They also suggest just wearing old tennis shoes. I bet you guys have some of those around!! You can take a few extra plastic bags with you in case they don't dry out by the time you pack to go home. You will need something more stable than flip flops, for sure.... both for the river and for the 45 mintue walk on a dirt / mud path to get to the cave area. mickym Posted January 9, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted January 9, 2009 Thanks, that's probably what we will do. Yes, those old tennis shoes do seem to pile up. I see you leave in two days, lucky you! Have a great trip!!
golfer1966 Posted January 12, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2009 and YES you can rent water shoes there. I think they were 3 usd. I have water sandals and they were not good for this. I had sand and small stones and pebbles in my shoes and I had to take them off to get the pebbles out. The sand rinses right out but the pebbles wouldnt, so I recommend water shoes.
