Best budget thing to do?

I think we decided to snorkel on Key West and want to plan a budget day in Grand Cayman, is this possible?

Personally, I 'd do the opposite if I had that choice. The water in Grand Cayman is the clearest ocean water I've ever seen. You can easily walk from the tender dock to the dive shop at Eden Rock and rent snorkel equipment very inexpensively, and snorkel right there. Also you can also just take a taxi just a couple of miles to Seven Mile Beach and spend time there inexpensively.

we'll have two little ones with us, so if we snorkeled in Cayman, we'd probably do teh reef, rays and rum point one, since they are 6 and 3. I think I have read Eden, is rough.

I agree with austinlw. I've snorkeled both and Key West doesn't compare to the clarity of Grand Cayman. I'd do the reef, rays, Rum Point tour.

thanks, that is what we may end up doing. Since it's our first visit we kind of wanted to see some of teh town as well.

I would agree that the snorkeling in GC is far superior to that in Key West- and warmer! Key West is fun to wander around. I was under the impression that town in GC was quite secondary to anything in the water.

snorkeling in KW is by boat and I found when we took our daughter at age 5 she was not too keen on jumping into water where she could not touch the bottom but she had no problem walking down the steps at Eden in GC.

 

Definitely a mind thing for my daughter but couple that with the FAR superior snorkeling in GC and it is a no brainer.

we went to Puerta Vallarta in May and both the girls 5 and 3 then jumped from the boat into the water, so I don't think they would have a problem.
