Balcony cabins (and mini-suites) also get a special location for breakfast only available to balconies and above - on the Dawn in December it was Aqua.

On a diff. post they say balcony cabins do NOT qualify for special breakfast resturants:confused:

You are correct that balconies and minisuites do not qualify for breakfast from the Speciality Restaurants like the suites BUT do have their own breakfast dining room......like stated above the Aqua Restaurant on the Dawn is ONLY open for Balconies and minisuites for breakfast. It is a really nice set-up....a buffet you can pick from with fruit, yogurt, buns, rolls etc while you wait for your order from the full hot menu. There should be a small card somewhere in your stateroom inviting you to dine for breakfast at the Aqua.

OK, what is the 'priority reception hotline' and what can they do for me?

Also, has anyone received 'the recognition you deserve' ? I don't quite understand this one.

I've been on 5 NCL cruises so far with 4 of them in balconies but my cruise in March will be the first in a balcony with Freestyle 2.0 implemented. I'll get back with my observations.

Also, I like the idea of the special location for breakfast (Aqua on the Dawn). Does you know if this is done on the Jewel?

I think that is a stupid statement on NCL's part. Just because someone books a balcony cabin (or whatever) they "deserve" to be recognized for it throughout the ship? What, are inside and oceanview pax supposed to bow and scrape before them or perhaps the crew has been instructed to ignore other pax in lower categories if more "deserving" pax come into the room? I get what they're trying to say, but don't like how they've said it.

For anyone who's worried that because they are in a inside or ocean view room that they might not get the same service as the "purple key card balcony cabin guests" I can say do not be worried at all, we didn't care! :)

I agree that the statement about recognition should be removed. What's the point if the 'recognition' isn't quantified similarly to other benefits (i.e. tender priority). Did you have instruction to treat anyone differently? What about GV guests?

I agree that it is indeed a stupid statement and smacks of class distinction.

I did see one instance of this on our cruise last year. We were in a speciality restaurant and the service seemed a little "off". I fiddled in my pocket and placed my purple card on the table and suddenly the atmosphere warmed considerably. How strange. It was very noticeable.

Personally I think everyone should get exactly the same treatment wherever they go on the ship irrespective of cabin status.

My DH and I are Plat's, but usually book an inside cabin , which still gives us a purple card.

We have booked a balcony cabin for our next cruise on the Star.

This is what I think most people do not consider when they think that they deserve "special" treatment because they book a balcony or better:

I really don't think the cruise line cares that much what category of room you book. They care more about their bottom line, which is derived from how much we spend while on the ship, in the casino, bar's, excursions, pictures, gift shops etc.

Some who book a suite may not spend any $$ on the items above...and then, there are those that may book an inside cabin, and leave with a $2000 bar bill.

We are not drinkers, but we personally know several couples that have over indulged in the bars, only to come home to a huge visa bill to be paid, and nothing to show for it.

I say, whatever floats your boat, but just because you book a balcony or above, doesn't mean that you should get special recognition IMO

I am in a balacony (BA) for the first time next month.

I have one very important question, what color will my card be ? :D

purple.

AE and above cabins get silver (I think its ADs and up on the Sky/Sun).

mini suites and balcony cabins are purple.

Ocean views and insides are a random mix of red, orange, yellow, blue, green etc.

We treated everyone the same honestly. If a little kid came up to the reception desk with a silver card we would make some comment that we knew he was in a suite and very vip to make them feel good.

When I was on the Jade the first week of Freestyle 2.0 I had a silver card and a few people asked how the Garden Villa was so they thought thats what it meant but they did notice it. That could be because it was a new system though.

as we got -0- last April or November on Jewel. No special breakfast restaurant as suites get. Just restaurant reservations 2 days prior. The fruit basket is a cereal bowl with 2 apples, oranges, bananas & pears for each for us. Latitude pins on first day on bed.
