hoogs Posted January 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2009 They have lowered their price to $120pp, I think it was $150 last year. My question is, it shows a food symbol next to it that means it comes with food. Has anyone booked this through Carnival before? What kind of food do you get? Its pretty vague in the description. Thanks!

Thanks! My wife and I just got back from doing that and I would say save your money. Ours was 125 dollars without lunch, but you only get about 3 hours there and it's not nearly enough time to enjoy everything. We loved every minute we were there, but wished we had more time. We felt we did not get your money's worth.

Ours was 125 dollars without lunch, but you only get about 3 hours there and it's not nearly enough time to enjoy everything. We loved every minute we were there, but wished we had more time. We felt we did not get your money's worth. Which one did you book? This one says 5 hours and includes lunch. Also you arrive at 9:15am and the shuttles start at 1pm and end at 5pm. So technically it looks like you could stay until 5pm which would be 8 hours. Here is the description: Atlantis Aquaventure Be among the first to discover a new world of fun and excitement on this full-day Atlantis adventure. On this excursion you will: Disembark a short distance to the Atlantis Resort. Begin with a 20-minute transfer by bus to the world famous Atlantis Resort. Be escorted on a tour of the grounds as you discover Atlantis. See the exhilarating new waterscape of pools, water coasters, body slides and rivers, making it the largest water-themed attraction in the Caribbean. Explore the resort’s 141-acre waterscape comprised of 20 million gallons of fresh and seawater with more than 50,000 fascinating sea creatures. Feel the magic of a fabled world long lost in time as you explore the maze of archaeological ruins called The Dig. Conclude your tour at the Day Visitor Center, just beyond the Royal Towers. Ride the four adrenaline-inducing water slides among a mile long rapids and wave river. Experience the thrills of the towering Mayan temple’s five water slides and the 7-story Power Tower. Grab an inner tube and join the fun! Spend the afternoon relaxing in the warm tropical sun, plunging into the refreshing waters of a swimming pool or pristine beach. Enjoy the formal splendor of the Royal Baths Pool or the relaxed atmosphere and fun of the Lazy River pool. Have lunch at one of the several outdoor or indoor eateries and spend the rest of the day as you like. At the 7-acre Paradise Lagoon, you can arrange for non-motorized water sports and rent water bikes, kayaks, water hammocks and snorkeling equipment. Visit the Caribbean’s largest casino or embark on a shopping expedition and stroll through over 20 colorful shops in the Marina Village. Note: Complimentary lounge chairs, towels and life jackets are provided. Convenient complimentary return transportation is every half hour starting at 1:00PM with the last complimentary bus at 5:30PM. Guests may take a taxi at their own expense after 5:30PM. Guests must be at least 48 inches tall to ride the water slides. Lockers and non-motorized watersports rentals are available. Swim diapers are required in all pools and attractions for young children and infants. Shoes, sandals or “aqua socks” are strongly recommended, especially for children. Swimwear with zippers, rivets buttons or metal ornamentation is now allowed on slides. Pregnant women and guests with heart conditions/back injuries are not permitted on the slides. Be advised that many of the outdoor restaurants and snack carts are “cashless” and only accept credit cards. Cash is accepted at other venues, including all indoor restaurants, bars and shops. Gift cards can be purchased with cash for use in “cashless” areas.
ThePosse Posted January 12, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2009 For our cruise the only one that was offered was the one without lunch. It takes a while to get from the pier to one of the shuttle buses that takes you over there. It took us about an hour just to get there. Then we had an awful awful quick tour which wasted some more of our time. There was another couple besides us that finally left that group because it wasn't worth the time. Just give us a map and let us go explore. You are right, you can stay until 5 o'clock to get the last bus as you need to be back on the ship by 5:30. We took the 4 o'clock shuttle because we had early dinner and needed some time to freshen up and get ready. It's a beautiful and tremendous place, we just wish we could have had more time. While I don't mean to bash Atlantis but for $150 or $120 or $100 or even $80 per person for 3 to 5 hours was not worth it for us. We just returned also. We had never been to Atlantis so I think the excitement of never seeing it and having fun in the pools and slides with a 6yr old kinda overshadowed what others had suggested. That is it's not worth it. Sorry but just my opinion.
hoogs Posted January 12, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Thanks for the input guys. Yeah I know its expensive and it will be a bit rushed, but I think its worth it to check it out once. Plus I figure its $109 a the gate plus lunch and a taxi is easily $120 a person either way.
Cruisex234 Posted January 12, 2009 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2009 I agree with you there Hoogs, and the family wants to check it out even if it is just for a few hours. Our itinerary has us in the Bahamas from 8-2p. You guys sound like it is a little longer. We are sailing on the Glory in April, perhaps that is why ? reddi Posted January 18, 2009 #11 Share Posted January 18, 2009 Hoogs, When are you sailing? We are on the Carnival Glory in late March and the Aquaventure price listed is $159 per person. $120 sounds a lot better and hopefully lunch is included. The description is the same. Feb 9th on Destiny. But it WAS $159 for a long time, about 30 days before the cruise it changed to $121 a person. So keep an eye on it!
bajathree Posted January 26, 2009 #13 Share Posted January 26, 2009 No where does it say lunch is included. You better go back and read it more carefully....clever marketing;) Have lunch at one of the several outdoor or indoor eateries and spend the rest of the day as you like. Have lunch....not lunch is INCLUDED. It even says in the note at the bottom: Be advised that many of the outdoor restaurants and snack carts are “cashless” and only accept credit cards. Cash is accepted at other venues, including all indoor restaurants, bars and shops. Gift cards can be purchased with cash for use in “cashless” areas. Which is why I asked in the first place, but there IS a food symbol which means food is provided. So if they don't provide me lunch or some kind of snack I will be complaining for sure. beach410 Posted January 27, 2009 #17 Share Posted January 27, 2009 You can book a room at the Comfort Suites, if there are only two of you this may not be worth it, but if you are more, then look into the prices. This allows you access to Atlantis and a towel, you can check in and out at the same time so you dont have to go back and its just a short walk next door. My friend got a deal last spring, she got the room for 150 at last minute, I paid 225, then add the 40 resort fees to that, for a family of 4 thats a bargain. We love it there and would go again. nonnie1998 Posted January 27, 2009 #18 Share Posted January 27, 2009 Unless it is a holiday when the resort is likely busier you can buy a day pass at Atlantis for $105 per person--obviously have to also consider cab fare but shouldn't be more than $5 per person each way. nonnie1998 Posted January 27, 2009 #22 Share Posted January 27, 2009 Don't know which cruise line but when I was at Atlantis in January a group came up to get lunch while I was also in line and they had vouchers for a lunch combo--sandwich,drink, fries--it was clear to me that the worker behind the counter was very familiar with the vouchers which leads me to believe some cruise lines include lunch. Yes, there are certainly some cruise tours that include a food voucher.. we just can't be sure about the one the OP is asking about.. it's just not clear. bajathree Posted January 28, 2009 #24 Share Posted January 28, 2009 Call them..........I dare you! :D it seems as if you should be the one calling since you are the one booking and think it's included. Weeziblu Posted January 28, 2009 #25 Share Posted January 28, 2009 OP, I know exactly what you're asking about.. at Carnival's site there are TWO choices for this excursion - one that comes WITH lunch and one that excludes lunch. Clearly one of the two excursions includes lunch or they wouldn't offer one with the words "not including lunch" for the other. Some people just like to be argumentative... I wouldn't worry about it. Looks like you're choosing one that comes WITH lunch.
