CruiseTour IB5, July 6, 2009, Diamond Princess

Going to Alaska for the first time and will taking Princess's CruiseTour IB5 which starts July 6, 2009 in Fairbanks and ends with a 7 day cruise aboard the Diamond Princess. Will fly into Anchorage on July 4th and fly out to Fairbanks on July 6th. This gives us a whole day in Anchorage.

Suggestions are very much appreciated:

1) What do to in Anchorage before heading to Fairbanks?

2) Heard that the Denali Tundra Wilderness Tour is far superior to the Natural History Tour. We arrive in Denali around 12:30PM, have the afternoon free, spend the night, and are scheduled for the Natural History Tour the next morning then leave the next afternoon at 4PM for Mt Mckinley. What should we do??

3) Shore excursions in Juneau and Skagway seem interesting but Ketchikan doesn't. What suggestions do you have?

General comments or suggestions regarding ship, lodging, tours, etc??
