Appropriate rate for private tour

What should DH and I expect to be charged per hour for a private tour? We have a quote for $175 for a 3 hour hike and then $200 for the rest of the day. We're in port for 9 hours so that works out to about $42 per hour. This does not include meals, entrance fees or anything other than the car and driver.

Thanks for your reply, mountainhouse. I've been scouring this thread, but only find info on package tour providers. DH and I would like to hike and that is best done in the morning before it gets too hot. Then we have all afternoon to do something else. The package tours (and there are several if you look hard enough) all leave between 9-10 am... before we will get back from the hike.

 

So far, our other option is heading back to the ship after the hike and taking our chances on a taxi-tour, which I've seen for around $25/hr.
