i am a p and 0 virgin what is the protocol on tipping is it sorted on boarding or is it down to the passenger who he or she tips

You should get envelopes left on your bed/ dressing table on the last but one day of the cruise for tipping, if not use envelopes in the cabin folder.

 

You only need to tip:

Your cabin steward:

Your 2 table waiters: - they work as a pair on your table give them one envelope with their names on. (On the last but one dinner they usually give you the cruise dinner menus signed by them so you know their names, but you will get to know their names anyway as the cruise progresses)

 

And thats it! No tips are deducted from your onboard account unless you are 'freedom dining' on Ventura (and Oceana?) when you won't see the same waiters every night.

 

The wine waiter works on commission sales from wine and alcohol sold so no need to tip him, but many do if they are impressed with his service and they use him every night - he pours your wine at the meal and supplies ordered wine.

 

The amount you tip is up to you, they do like pounds sterling, but euros are ok.

We take £100 worth of £5 notes,leave in safe in cabin for end of cruise and split as we decide, usually the steward gets the same as the combined two waiters as the room steward works really hard on a 2 week cruise.
