lizi116 Posted January 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2009 I am thinking of booking a last minute cruise either April or summer and am looking at many different lines. We have 2 kids (14 and 10). We want a line that is "fun" and has plenty of options and activities. I know all about Princess, RCL and Carnival. I heard that one line is not as much "fun" for a family - and I can't remember if it was NCL or HAL. I don't remember which one, but I heard one of those was very quiet in the evenings. Don't want that! Any opinions?
Old As Dirt Mom Posted January 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2009 HAL is the cruise line known for a more quiet environment.
rebeccalouise Posted January 15, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2009 NCl, Royal Caribbean and Carnival will be more fun for the ages you mentioned. I think Holland America, Priness and Celebrity are better for kids 3-12 but beyond that- there aren't enough onboard activities to keep older kids happy. Although I understand that the Noordam has a great teen hangout with hammocks, their own hot tubs etc. But you have to be 12 and older to go there- so that leaves the 11 year old out. I have sailed on NCL, Carnival and Royal and had a good time on all of them. You won't find too many "last minute" deals if you go April 2-April 13th because of Easter break. But if you are flexible- you can find many last minute deals for summer cruises.
