ejpumpkin Posted January 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2009 We are on FOS on RC in a little more than a month. We are going to go on a stingray city/snorkeling excursion. I am not sure yet which company we will go with - but am looking at a few since finding this board. (questions about that are a whole other post! :p) I think the ship keeps EST the entire cruise right? Since our home port is Miami, we just stay on that time??? Is that the same time as Grand Caymen? So when the excursion says it starts at 9:15, is it really 9:15 on the ship - or is that 8:15 am ship time?? 9:15 is a perfect time, but honestly 8:15 is a little earlier than we would like. We are on vacation and want to sleep in a little!! Thanks for the help! :D
2PinaColadas Posted January 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2009 From what I understand, GC is one hour behind the ship's time. 9:15 on ship would be 8:15 on the island. So, yes you would need to get up early-- and remember you will have to tender in-- so that will take a little more time.
ejpumpkin Posted January 15, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted January 15, 2009 Hmmm....decisions decisions. And since we aren't booking a RCCL excursion we might not even be in the first tender either. Well - the times of the places I am looking into might determine our decision now! :)
isutru Posted January 16, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2009 Grand Cayman in on Eastern Standard Time, and does not observe Dalight Savings Time. When the eastern US springs forward by an hour, GC stays on EST.
wannuhcruise Posted January 16, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2009 This year, Daylight Saving Time is on March 8. So until then, they'll be in the same time zone as Florida. After that, they'll be one hour behind (central time).
eh2zed Posted January 16, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 16, 2009 Daily program should tell you what time you are on and also check at gangway before going on the tender.
2PinaColadas Posted January 19, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 19, 2009 Thanks for the information! We will be there March 16th and are going to see the Stingrays with Moby Dick Tours. Hope we have enough time to enjoy the beach after. This year, Daylight Saving Time is on March 8. So until then, they'll be in the same time zone as Florida.
