Has anyone sailed out of Colon, Panama?

Recommended Posts

Royal Caribbean has a cruise in March out of Colon, Panama. I've having an EXTREMELY difficult time finding any airlines that go to Colon. All I can find go to Panama City, which I map-quested and is about an hour away. Anyone know how to get to this cruise port by plane?

There is no airline that flys into Colon from the US. Most of the air traffic to Colon is from within Panama. All the international traffic for Panama and Colon uses Tocumen, (PTY) which is on the outskirts of Panama City. It's about a 1.5hrs. car ride from the airport to Colon.

The link below has some info on the Enchantment from Colon.

After reading the other post, I'm not so sure how I would like leaving out of Panama. I took Latin in high school. A lot of good that has done for me...

RCCL has a transfer service , by bus, to and from PTY and Colon. Cost is $40.00 and is worth while. The road is not well maintained and you pass thru some areas that are, shall we say, really crappy.

I would not want to walk around Colon with out escort. The port area is well maintained and is a work in progress. English is second language on the ships but you can easily get by.

In April the EN will return to FLL and the trip will be inexpensive and prob. be half full.

But, you must fly into Panama City and transfer the 41 miles to Colon

There is also a lack of roadsigns. The service we used from PC advised us a new highway may be completed by the fall from PC to Colon. From what I observed on our 12-7 trip, very unlikley. The Spanish language thing is not a big deal at all.
