awayatsea Posted January 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2009 Most of us know that you must pay $132US pp, when flying into Santiago to go cruising around the Horn, but not if you arrive by ship in Valparaiso and subsequently fly out of Santiago. So, flying into Bueonos Aires saved this fee. I just spoke with an NCL agent who says that starting Mar. 1,'09, Argentina will charge US passport holders a similar reciprocity fee upon arrival in Buenos Aires by air (US Visas cost Argentinian citizens a bundle) and he also said that a future cruise passenger of theirs said the fee will be $160 pp upon air-arrival in Buenos Aires. Anyone with more news about how much this fee will be?

Anyone with more news about how much this fee will be? These fees are pretty close to the price of a Brazilian visa, but without the effort of filling out a visa application and sending in your passport to the consulate. Brazil also has a reciprocity policy for visas for US citizens. We will need one early next year for our Amazon cruise on the Royal Princess. Now it sounds like we will have the same expense going on a future Cape Horn cruise. Either way, it's a real racket. DavidnSteph

Mel Posted January 18, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 18, 2009 We flew back from Buenos Aires on January 15th and there was an $18 US p/p departure fee, that's all, no reciprocity fee when we arrived (not yet, anyway).
